Comparison 2003 - 2011

Not the most important topic but I was just thinking about the time Bon Jovi shows were looking like this:

I know Jon likes to tell he's not about the props, the fireworks, the visuals and the effects, but when I pay the big bucks, I like to get 'the big show' in return.

Will these times ever come back?

Only if it doesn't cost Jon too much money. And that stage for the Bounce tour was pretty daft though. Bon Jovi have never had an impressive stage, their best one was on the 1996 tour which happened to be a stage from Phil Collins.

The second is not the official stage, this is the 'minor' stage.
This is the right stage:

This one had the biggest hd screen of bj history.

There's really not that much difference?

^ Are you kidding me? The Bounce Stage was epically huge in comparison!

Personally, my favourite stage was from the OWN tour. The skyscraper backdrop with the elvator intro was brilliant. :)

I'm with you there. Out of the Bounce stage, they could have made a lot more in terms of lightshow. The construction was impressive but how they used it was pretty basic.

I don't get it why they never want to create a production that is going to blow U2 or the Stones out of the water. Or at least try to do so.
1996 was indeed very cool. The stage was not too big and the roof pretty low, but the lightshow and the 'decor' was really spectacular.

When they came back in 2000 (Crush) I was disappointed they used the same concept but with a very basic show 'under' the roof. Let's face it - the arms left and right that were blown up during lay your hands on me is not something you can call 'never seen before'

Even worse, this 'minor' stage thing - never understood why they dare to set up a 'minor' stage when being in a full tour but I guess I can make the reasoning. While most big bands use 3 stages (Madonna even 4 because so hard to set up) BJ probably had 2 stages in Europe + a 3rd minor (standard) thing. Because the show in Zeebrugge (Belgium) was the only in the benelux - and thus not very ideal in terms of routing, they probably figured that this dull thing would do. Not exactly a way to impress the crowd that is coming to see the 'only show' in the benelux + france that year.

Can you imagine U2 setting up a sort of mini claw?

And it was not like the ticketprices were minor or so.

No complaints on the level of energy and enthusiasm the band put in this show. I do have complaints on the lame lame lame crowd. If they had been more energetic, the setlist would have gotten 2 more songs i guess. (but ok, this is way off-topic)

Indeed very cool tour/show/stage. Very original too. Loved it. Saw the epic show in Munich back then.

A agree!! OWN tour best stage ever. I remember it from Giants 2001. I totally loved it. Plus the intro was great and the fireworks at the end! Just awesome ;)

kekko21 07-19-2012 08:57 PM

Their best stage was the one from OWN Tour.
I loved their last one too, and even the Bounce one.

Also think that fireworks during Faith are amazing! They should do that on each concert!
