Bon Jovi has a hardcore fanbase as big as Pearl Jam. They can make a diverse setlist and the fans won't be disappointed, Bon Jovi are not the ****ing Backstreet Boys.

Unfortunately Jon only cares about $$$ and he'll keep the same shitty setlist for the rest of his life. No wonder why he'll never join the Hall of Fame.

Really? You think money is the reason the album cuts don't go over well? Really?

Bon Jovi does have a very big fanbase but I think it's safe to say that it's more the casual fan not the hardcore music fan and that's where the band's differ. Pearl Jam fans are there for the music and a lot, not all, Bon Jovi fans are there to be entertained and engaged in the show.

What do you propose we do? Go to shows and nudge the arm of every concert goer at a Bon Jovi show and say "hey, check out this album track, you'd really like it"? The band has marketed themselves to the casual fan, like it or not it's the truth. It's not going to change. Bon Jovi are not Pearl Jam. Once again, Pearl Jam get away with what they do because they don't have 10+ hits that they have to play every show. Come on man, you have to agree by now that Pearl Jam are not the same type of "Hit makers" as BJ.

of course i udnerstand that - it is a simple concept, i just dont agree...

not one of these casual fans was dying to hear sleep, or WGIGO, or pick your non hit bon jovi songs that they play every show....jovi played them , they worked, people picked up on it, all im saying is that they have a HUGE catalog of songs that would fall into this category and we accept it for some reason saying that have to play 10 hits...okay, let them play 10 hits, fine if that is IMPOSSIBLE to deal with...there are 15-20 OTHER SONGS IN A SHOW....

they play SFTP acoustic all of the sudden - were people clarmoring for that...? No that was awesome - then they played that song AT EVERY SHOW from then on....they have 500 other songs that deserve some attention, thats where the laziness comes in....

i am not suggesting that you poke other fans at concerts - i am big believer that people READ boards like this.... if you dont think so i think you are kinda a spaz in this day of social marketing but either way SOEMBODY reads this stuff, weve seen plenty of evidence of that and people ON THIS BOARD give them a pass, not everybody but it seems most, and my ONLY point is that if WE can have a majority at least that want more, maybe we would get more, i think all levels of jovi fans would benefit as no casual fan knows all jovi songs and youwould not hear comments from casusals anymore such as wow i have sen the SAME SHOW for the last 10 YEARS....

cmon folks...if we dont care who will....

no one...

During the latest 10 years, the only people who bought the new Bon Jovi records are the real fans.

That's why they stopped going multi-Platinum. The casual fans didn't care about new music after It's My Life.

No argument from me there. I agree with you. But, as far as their live shows they are still attracting those that know the hits and the small contingency of remaining diehard fans. I am not defending them on the lackluster setlists, I agree, they can use changing up and can do it and not totally lose the casual fan but they will never be that band that can go out night after night and play 2 to 3 hits and then entire full albums or super deep cuts like a Pearl Jam or Black Crowes...Believe me I wish they could!!

Is this simply about Bon Jovi playing the wrong songs or not changing the set up? There is a difference. If the sets from '95 were appearing every night, there would be no complaints, I assume.

I once said Bon Jovi should play the same set every night and have a 24-song set. This was after getting such classics as 'Work For The Working Man' and 'Sleep When I'm Dead' while other shows were getting '(It's Hard) Letting You Go', 'Wild Is The Wind' and 'Something To Believe In', though.

if you think bon jovi should come up with one 24 song set and play it into the ground then yes we fundamentally disagree...and you are prob a very happy jovi fan :)

Why not? It means petty people like myself don't feel like shit for getting nothing special whereas some obscure show gets six or seven songs that I would die to hear.

And let's face it, if the right songs were played, nobody would complain.
