Track Rankings 2012 - The Circle
The only album to not be ranked in 2008 (because it wasnt even released then!) is The Circle. It will be interesting to see which songs on the record have lasted the past 3 years. The Circle was ranked in the middle of the pack during album rankings. It finished 6th best/6th worst.

It sits just outside my top 10 songs by the band. I really loved When We Were Beautiful when it first came out. I am a little sick of it now, but I still think it is a great track. I still love LOTR as well. It's such a lovely song, albeit a tiny bit corny. The melody is beautiful. I fell in love with it when I we first got hold of the snippets before the album's release. I think Thorn In My Side is a little over rated by people here, but it's an ok song. |
I should listen to the whole album. I made a playlist/album out of Bounce+HaND+LH+TC and rarely listen to the actual albums at all.

Fast Cars I used to prefer Happy Now but after hearing an awesome and one of the best ever versions of Love's The Only Rule last year in Mannheim, it takes the first spot. And yes, I really enjoy We Weren't Born To Follow, I like the chorus on the record. And again yes, I really like Learn To Love. I don't care for the songs from 05 to 01 much. Edit: I don't like Thorn In My Side that much on the record but it's probably the only song that got better live because they actually added a solo. Something that was a standard in the 80s and 90s and is really rare nowadays. |

The middle ones are okay, and extremely close to each other - just as the bottom two are both totally boring for me. You could easily switch those around. WWWB is considerably worse than the second bracket for me, but still better than the bottom two. If Bullet had a better production in the chorus it'd probably be #1, but then again, ALL the tracks within one bracket are close. I was actually surprised how many tracks from the album I liked. Certainly more consistent than Crush and LH (okay, LH was consistent if you will, but for all the wrong reasons), maybe even Bounce (which, however, has some GREAT songs on it). As soon as somebody disagrees with me about stuff, I'll write some more in-depth stuff about individual tracks, so come at me! |
