Bon Jovi opening for Judas Priest?
Is there any press coverage of that tour? Some pictures of the two bands together? Road stories? Stuff one said about the other? Was watching some comments that Axl Rose made about Iron Maiden when they were touring together and thought it was somewhat of a similar story when Jovi opened for Priest just before breaking big and being somewhat mismatched (although, on the Fuel for life tour, Priest was quite mellow!).
The only stuff that I am aware of are some Youtube clips from a Montreal gig: Raise Your Hands: Jon coming from the crowd like he did later in Moscow, looking pretty heavy (and what is the intro all about hah :D) Runaway: "We will be baaaack Montreaal!" |
Oh yes, and this little clip from Rob Halford saying:
"I just admire Jon and Richie and everybody for being part of backbone of that kind of music" or something like that. 1.06 Edit: Got nothing to do with the tour - just one of the bands speaking about the other..... |
pretty sure it was just a short run of dates in Canada in mid 1986, I think I have a tour advertisement somewhere in the Jovi-horde

I got nothing to say about that history, but I like how "Raise Your Hands" is played at the right pace. It was much faster (too fast!) after they were on success (and what else they were on...)... Pretty cool.

Also, that Montreal show seems to start with Raise Your Hands straight away (no Pink Flamingos...unless the introduction comes after Pink Flamingos). And I'd love to see the tour ad - any chance you could post a scan, Lord of the Jovi realm? |

Apparently my dad saw them open for Judas Priest. Apparently my father bought Slippery When Wet immediately after seeing them live, he said he had never seen such a good opening band before. I saw them again with him in Vancouver 2011, and he was surprised at how well they were still doing.
