I have quite mixed feelings about this, but I suppose I will try to avoid passing judgement until closer to the time!

"Disney. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and copyright villainy. We must be cautious."

PS - sorry to anyone who's a FB friend of mine and has already seen that attempted-smartass status update.:p

When I first heard this, a part of me died inside, but reading up on it I'm more neutral toward the idea now, and quite intrigued as to where the story will go, what characters will feature and who will be cast.

Not really fair to judge before anyones put pen to paper yet. :p

J.J Abrams (the guy who rebooted Star Trek in 2009) has been confirmed to direct Episode VII. Sounds promising.

I feel ya. It's gonna be really weird knowing George has no part in the new trilogy.

He's writing treatments for the stories, and is on board as creative consultant or something like that.

I'd imagine he still has final say on any big decisions regarding plot, particularly with Han, Luke & Leia. Like with the EU stories, any major changes had to be okayed by him. I'd bet there are clauses where he still has certain controls.

I fear for those movies. I'm a devoted fan of Star Wars - Expanded Universe (the whole bunch of books, comics - stories of reborn Emperor and Grand Admiral Thrawn who almost destroyed New Republic and lots more amazing things...) - I hope new movies wouldn't destroyu it all...
