They always seem to get packed houses in Manchester.

AlinSpain 11-03-2012 12:02 AM

Good to see a fellow Wirral fan on here Alonso.

I agree the Manchester concerts at the City of Manchester in 06 and Old Trafford a couple of years back were both quality concerts and set lists.

I was looking for the cheapest tickets there for next summer in case the Southern European dates don't fit in for me, but there aren't any left. I guess everybody's figured that the lads always put on a good show in Manchester.

alonso14 11-03-2012 12:24 AM

Where abouts you from AlinSpain?

Wallasey, mate. But down in Spain now. I still get back a couple of times a year though.

What about you?

crashed 11-03-2012 12:29 AM

This is the day before my birthday so hoping to make this one. Will just see what I can get nearer the time though.

Bromborough mate.

Looking forward to this one, tickets were too good to pass up. Might train or coach it up for Notts where I'm gonna base myself for that and the Villa gig. Last time stayed in the sportcity Travelodge, which is literally a few mins walk from the stadium, was wonderful. Would stay again if the Villa gig wasn't the next day.

Think the stadium is wonderful, and had a great gig there in 08, despite the high winds trying to blow the sound away.

Yvonne 11-03-2012 12:54 AM

Oh I was there in 2008, this is one hit or miss show. Didn't go in 2011, which I am very glad about :)

Am looking forward to this because of the ticket I have, so I am hoping for some good songs in 2013 :)

To be fair, I wasn't over the moon about the 2011 show but the performance was, actually, really good. Setlist and weather let it down.

I booked for the Manc show last time because of the quality of the last 2 shows in Manchester and thought 2011 was a good gig,til I listened to the Hyde Park show the night after and realised they,d sold us short that night.

AlinSpain 11-03-2012 01:26 AM

Admittedly 2011 wasn't as good as 2006, but given that it was pissing with rain all day, I thought they put on a good show, and a good set list. It was better than Rock in Rio in Madrid and about on a par with Twickenham for me.

It was also my daughter's first gig, so I've got a soft spot for getting soaking wet in Manchester.

It pissed down and blew a gale in 2008,feckin freezing up in the gods too but he still gave it all that night.

It goes without saying really, it always pisses with rain in Manchester ;)

I missed 2008 and went to Twickenham, but didn't feel let down by effort at the time. Nothing like Aerosmith in Dublin in 2007, who just felt like they were going through the motions.

I wasn't their best gig at OT, but was still a good one IMO

Yvonne 11-03-2012 01:38 AM

I've been trying to remember if I went in 2006, no I didn't.

I was at Hyde Park and saw the set from the previous night and did think to myself "what a waste of money that would have been"

I do think that everyone who went last year enjoyed the show but I do know a couple of people who were disappointed.

efiste2 11-03-2012 01:52 AM

if you watch the WWWB film Jon is speaking to someone on his phone about the caller seeing them at ashow and he mentions the Manchester shows are always good shows.....the feeling I got from what he says is that he must get a great vibe from the Manchester gigs.....

efiste2 11-03-2012 02:02 AM

too add my humble thoughts on the 2011 OLD TRAFFORD CRICKET GROUND show.......even though were piss wet through, the fact that Jon himself got piss wet through and still managed to get that BON JOVI effect feeling across, even to the back of the ground, and with a busted knee.....even as a die hard and biased fan I honeslty think most groups/bands would have cancelled or at the most play a hurried shortened set..........Our seats for 2013 are called HOSPITALITY SEATS in blcok 206 which is as near to the stage as we have been for the last three manchester gigs!!!!

jovigirloz 11-05-2012 01:24 PM

for a moment I thought Aussie date had been announced. Bon Jovi played at Etihad stadium here in Melbourne last time they were here.

pipinfort 11-10-2012 06:27 PM

Well after my initial sulking about ticket prices i`ve finally given in and got some GC tickets......never missed a tour & this one is looking rather ambitious so......i`m in, 4 of us are gonna make a weekend of it for my 40th........roll on June

We are in block 206 too, lets hope its a good view! :D

alonso14 05-06-2013 02:16 PM

Still not got a ticket for this. It's pretty hard to persuade someone who only knows a couple of songs to shell out £75 for a ticket. Much easier when tickets were £40-£50. Tickets for the last Manchester gigs ended up on GroupOn, so hoping same might happen again.

Got 2 GC tickets. Oh well, its only money...

Yeah they reveal their setlists now. Jon thinks it's a good idea as it mean many people won't be disappointed after the show. However, they do still change one or two songs.

Yeah but seriously...the American set from the first few shows keeps popping up whenever there is a slow PBP or whatever. It's not hard to spot.

benjovialways 05-28-2013 01:49 PM

Hi guys! Will bey first Bon jovi gig, can't wait! Just a quick question for all the seasoned vets, I'll be driving up (from notts), what's the parking situation like, ie, when's it open and price etc. also, what sorta times would you aim to get there, for queuing to get in etc. and does anyone know the support acts? And I'm just assuming that as soon as you near the city ground it will all be signposted .... Cheers :D xx

Bounce7800 05-28-2013 04:18 PM

Head to "Sportcity" that's where the ground is. I would guess there's some car parks nearby, there is some official parking at the stadium but I would probably park a little bit further out for an easier exit

pipinfort 05-28-2013 04:22 PM

Parking is usually £10 (ouch) I usually park on the South car park as it seems a litter easier to get away after the gig.

alonso14 05-29-2013 01:56 PM

Tickets just been delivered for this. Postman said he had delivered loads of them today, wonder if they were all for this.

alonso14 05-29-2013 02:13 PM

Have you tracked them on the Royal Mail website?

Mine still not been dispatched, website says their marked for dispatch

Robd788 05-29-2013 07:50 PM

Yeah my cheapo 28 quid tickets have arrived !

Matrix15 05-30-2013 02:41 AM

£75 tickets have arrived. Any ideas what time to arrive for first entry? Do the diehards queue up offensively early? ;)

Anyhow, Richie or no Richie, I'm looking forward to my 4th Jovi gig, relaxing with a beer and having a good weekend in Manchester. It'll be interesting to see if it's noticeably different with Phil X.

efiste2 05-30-2013 02:55 AM

My SEETICKETS arrived last week.............if that helps any

Walkerboy 05-30-2013 02:01 PM

The wife is currently bidding on some ebay tickets..... Fingers crossed we get these after the Villa Park effort didn't go to plan!

alonso14 05-30-2013 06:15 PM

So what are people hoping for with the gig? My main 3 requests are Always, Hey God and These Days. I've only seen Always once previously live so would like to see it again and I've never seen HG or TD live. I fully expect them to play Dry County as they have ever other time I've seen them in Manchester, seems to be nailed on for them there.

Last time they played this stadium they opened with Prayer as well, wonder if they might mix it up again.

Kitch 05-30-2013 07:43 PM

I've just got my 2 gold circle tickets from see tickets for this gig. My 6th time going and I love it every time. Last time they played here I thought it was a great set hope we get something like that again. Hope to get always after missing out on it last year and also these days.
