Ask any non Springsteen fan if they ever heard the song. |
I reckon Jon has tried to re write 'Some Nights' by Fun and give it a stadium rock twist. Bleurgh.

And considering Some Nights was released as a single half a year ago, and at that point What About Now was still supposed to be the lead single, it's certainly a possibility. And these uber wimpy intro-harmonies certainly are remniscent of Because We Can. God, Fun. are one annoying band. |

Fun's current record is a great pop/rock effort, if you're into that type of stuff (Maroon 5, Train etc). The thing is, they are what they are, like it or leave it. They aren't a former rock band who have changed their sound drastically to try and stay hip and current. And 'Some nights' is far better than 'Because We can', Jon wishes he was having the airplay that that song and 'We are young' had.

Radio Nowhere was a moderate hit in 2007, Make A Memory was a moderate hit in 2007 at least in the US. I heard Memory far more than Nowhere on the radio back then. The difference between Springsteen and Jovi nowadays is that Jovi still care to sound current and/or relevant as it seems Springsteen could care less. I enjoy them both, but it's silly to think anything off Wrecking Ball fits the current radio landscape any better than Because We Can.
If you prefer Bruce's new stuff to Jovi's new stuff, that's fine but it's amazing how stuffy and elitist the majority of you come off in this argument. |
