The thing here is not the crowd ... It's the band, specially Jon ... Looks like he is trying to embrace the "mature band" figure, and leave the last drops of rock and roll he had in him behind. "At least we are not playing songs from the 80's". He said it himself.

Looks like a nostalgia act playing a country fair. Seriously, it's pathetic. The stage sucks. No passion from anyone in the band.

Sorry folks, it's WAY early, but if things don't take a 180, this is it for the band.

I think you are overreacting just a bit Dan. I know I didn't get full shows at Mohegan but from where I sat the band DID look excited to be playing, especially the new stuff. My next show is Tampa so we'll see what that looks like. I can't judge the production as far as video as very little was working at Mohegan (and none for the free show).

From watching the videos - what the hell is wrong with Jon? He was a lot more active on that small stage in Stuttgart, even while he was using his guitar.
Even when he at least bothers to move it looks like he's sleepwalking and not trying to entertain the crowd.
On the HAND tour his voice was constantly shitty, but there was a different amount of energy coming from them which easily made up for a lot of it.

I'm just watching the concert from Lima 2010 - not a spectacular setlist by any means either - BUT they go for it and rock it. Hell, they even looked like a different band there!
I know it's too early to judge it all, but the signs so far are shocking (for me).

Hey, it's not just me. Just about every other comment on this thread is saying the same thing. The band (Jon especially), looks bored out of his tree. These are other comments, not mine, just in case you missed them:

"Jon needs to move around a bit more, though. Never seen him stand around so much lately. Drop the guitar and look a bit more into it. It's alright smiling and doing the odd shake of the hips from time to time, but come on! The man is known for being energetic and putting on a great show. I think people could be bored pretty easy if this carries on."

"Prayer looks just awkward with Jon pretty much stationary, and if they continue to use Bad Name as an opener he's gotta move and show he's into it or else it won't go over well as an opener..."

"p.s just watched bad name from last night....the least he could do would be to move around for it....as he knows he can get his energy back while playing the guitar for most of the show. I'm not trying to be negative, but I'm having a hard time understanding (or maybe accepting) what I'm seing."

"one question though: why the hell does jon brag about working out like crazy on every interview concerning his 'good genes' if he's motionless 90% of the concert ?"

Salaam Aleikum,

Yeah, my thoughts entirely.

Why put the focus on him when he can't even solo? just lets it all down.

Prayer as a show ender is just lazy too. Sick off it.

Ill be seeing the guys in Denver. Here's my dream set for what it's worth:

Just Older
What About Now
Bad Name
Bounce
What's Left Of Me
Runaway
Because We Can
Blaze of Glory
Bed Of Roses
*Richie Solo song*
Have A Nice Day
Bad Medicine
It's My Life
These Days
Keep the Faith

Wanted
Sat Night
Prayer
I Believe

I agree very much. It's been the regular show closer for 3 or 4 tours now. Switch it up. It is a great main set closer, or like has been said, as a transition from the acoustic set back to the main stage, where Jon could start the song a capella from the middle of the crowd and work his way back to the main stage during the build up.

Nope, didn't miss the comments so there was no need to recopy them. I don't disagree, that he's too stationary, but, I'm not going to be all doom and gloom and ready to trash the entire tour after just a few shows (actually one full show).

Just to pick out a positive, glad to see a solid 25 song set, which is better than 21-23 like usual tour openers, so maybe we will start to see some longer sets, lets hope!
