The last time Bon Jovi played Ottawa was on May 3, 2011. The setlist contained no surprises.

2 graphs showcasing the order of album and single tracks. A peak indicates the chart position in the Billboard Hot 100, thus a crowd possibly knowing such a song. The more peaks, the more familiar a crowd is with the entire set. In case no peak is noted the song either didn't chart or wasn't released as a single.

The first graph is of this show, the second one is of the previous time Bon Jovi played Ottawa:

I predict standard setlist in today show. Well, maybe play In These Arms at the end of the show.

Of course, would like them to play Always an encore, but this is unlikely.

bj4ever 02-20-2013 10:24 PM

well, with:
1. Ottawa being a small market
2. them having another show tomorrow
3. jon's recent static performances
4. the setlists Ottawa has had in the past
5. the dullness of crowds in Ottawa (by far the worst I've ever seen)

I'm going in not expecting much.
I usually have fun even with the vanilla sets I've been getting so who knows!

bjcrazycpa 02-20-2013 10:26 PM

I was at the Ottawa show on the LH tour...VANILLA fo sho!!

I hope you're wrong....this is my 9th show, so I'd like to think I'll finally get something rare a la dry county (even if i'm not counting on it)

I hope I won't get something rare or special ala Jon loving this town so much he plays I love this town....ughhh

Kazyyy12 02-20-2013 11:56 PM

Prediction for tonight is the tour premiere of Raise Your Hands!

Probably the best shot you have is that passionless version of Wild Is The Wind we've seen the past few shows.

Predictions in these arms, raise your hands and Richie to sing every road.

Miracle 02-21-2013 01:09 AM

I'll be at this show tonight. Interestingly enough, I saw my first Bon Jovi show on this date in 2003. I wish I had half the enthusiasm I had ten years ago for tonight's show.

Never say never, I do expect Richie to start singing a song a night. May as well be one of his.

Thank you!! I hope even if the setlist is identical to what we've seen so far that the effort is really good.

mmm, yeah, I guess I've gotten used to the set now....if that's what their going to play they need to start blowing it out of the water.

But y'know, I still get excited about Bon Jovi. I've never been bored at a show. Always came out with that post gig buzz you get when you've had a really great ****ing time.

TheseDaysEra 02-21-2013 02:40 AM

the set will pretty much be the same as two night ago. unless Jon is in a rare good mood and decides to throw the odd Dry County or Always. or he might put Bed of Roses, which seems to be his idea of 'rarity' these days.
They should give old never played songs a chance like they did last time. But instead of 7800º songs, it'd be nice to hear 'ride cowboy ride' or '99 in the shade'. both these songs don't derive too much out of Jon's comfortable range and they'd both be a cool surprise that pretty much everyone who's there at the concert solely for the 80s albums would surely recognize. at least a good portion of people in their mid 30s - late 40s. But hell, we know it ain't gonna happen.
Wild In the streets should be a staple. it should become the opener for the second half of the tour IMO. but we both know what happens when he gets sick of opening with bad name: he'll put Lost Highway back there.

ezearis 02-21-2013 02:50 AM

Ten minutes for the show, according to people on Twitter.

Stadium doesn't seem sold out:

TheseDaysEra 02-21-2013 03:00 AM

and yet, concerts in North America insist on having people sitting behind the stage facing the band's arses. I don't get it. I feel culturally limited. lol

In Argentina they don't sell those seats, neither the ones with "limited vision".

I agree, i think Jon is very aware of the state of his vocals and obviously designs the set list with that in mind. However there are other songs that they could play that are easier on this vocals. So instead of playing whole lot of leaving/lost highway maybe play Thorn or something less challenging just mix it up.

Show has started.

1. You Give Love A Bad Name

Sitting behind the stage in my opinion is better seats than across the stadium or arena. you get a new perspective, its way cheaper and its actually not a bad view.

I would never go to seats, to the field (stadium, I think is the word?) or nothing!

I on;y did seats at a stadium gig once at Hampden Park but actually it wasn't that bad at all. Great view and the atospherics with the sound rising up during I'll Be There For You with the whole crowd singing is one of my unforgettable moments from a Jovi show.

And now that I think about that...that's all I ask from a show, one song I've never heard, and just one of those moments burned in my memory.

But don't you see the band like really small? I'd rather be in front of the scenario, near the band.

I did at hampden for Springsteen and it completely ruined it as we were sitting next to two wasted, rude Irish woman who just stared at us the whole gig.

Also had seats for both the arena and stadium melbourne shows last time around. Arena was fine, but in the stadium we were surrounded by total bogans (neds to you).

Seats can be ok, but with standing you can avoid the idiots by moving whenever you want.

Lol front rows cool and I've been there, done that but got slightly annoyed with the whole "have to be front row" culture. I prefer to be on the floor bouncing around but the atnosphere is usually better in the GA crowd than anywhere else.

The difference between gold circle in Europe and in the stands in some cases can be a 100E difference. between diamond circle and stands the difference can be up to 300E. some people just can't afford that.

For example. my seats in the stands for Calgary is costing me $40. If I wanted floor it would cost me $230. That's a huge difference and an amount I am unwilling to pay for any live show.

Tastes are different, I guess! I remember going to Scorpions to seats, as it was a small venue, first row so it was a great view! Really, I can't complain. But it was a different venue, one thing is a theatre and other is a 50.000 persons stadium, I think.

Also, when they played The Zoo, Sting In The Tail or Rock You Like A Hurricane I wanted to jump and i was about to jump to the crowd, lol. The only think I hated was the old man with his wife I got near me, it was with an awful face and making with his head the gesture of "no". He even left the building before they got out again for the first encore! What a douche.

Jayster 02-21-2013 03:35 AM

Oh the surprises

And Because We Can (4).

mike1990 02-21-2013 03:37 AM

All the shows I've been to have been outdoors in either an amphitheater or a park like thing. All the amphitheater shows, I was way back in the lawn portion. It was fine by me, good sound, still could see. A few shows where its a GA, we usually go middle and to one side. To me, being super close would ruin the sound. It would be drowned out. In my personal opinion at least.

most of the times when you're upfront close to the stage, you end up sitting or standing behind the PA itself which is even worse than being behind the stage where you'll have your own 'private' line array of speakers most of the time. being up front but not as upfront that you'll lose the stereo image and punch of the PA is ideal.
