Official March 10, 2013, Nationwide Arena, Columbus thread
Aloha !
Predictions, disappointments, reviews and rants about this show go in this topic. 1. You Give Love A Bad Name 2. Raise Your Hands 3. Lost Highway 4. Because We Can 5. That's What The Water Made Me 6. It's My Life 7. Someday I'll Be Saturday night 8. When We Were Beautiful 9. What about now 10. We Got It Goin On 11. Runaway 12. Keep The Faith 13. Amen 14. Livin In Sin / Chapel Of Love 15. I'll Be There For You 16. We Weren't Born To Follow 17. I'll Sleep When I'm Dead / Pretty Woman 18. Who Says You Can't Go Home 19. Bad Medicine Encore: 20. (You Want To) Make A Memory 21. Wanted Dead Or Alive 22. Born To Be My Baby Encore II: 23. Have A Nice Day 24. Livin' On A Prayer Encore III: 25. Always The last time Bon Jovi played Columbus was on May 10, 2011. The setlist contained no surprises and Richie wasn't present. A graph showcasing the order of album and single tracks. A peak indicates the chart position in the Billboard Hot 100, thus a crowd possibly knowing such a song. The more peaks, the more familiar a crowd is with the entire set. In case no peak is noted the song either didn't chart or wasn't released as a single. http://www.bonjovi-archives.com/20_G...h_20110510.jpg Songs played per album: http://www.bonjovi-archives.com/20_G...h_20110510.jpg Salaam Aleikum, Sebastiaan |
We might be having a good tussle in another thread but i do like these graphs...makes interesting reading
|
Seb I like the graphs but I have to say, I am still confused on some of them. Why do the peaks drop completely on songs like Make a Memory, Blood on Blood, Sleep When I'm Dead? I know it says if it wasn't released as a single OR it didn't chart, but I don't think those two things should be the same thing. Yeah, the line should be completely at the bottom for songs like We Got it Goin' On and Work for the Working Man, but to say the crowd isn't going to know Make a Memory, Blood on Blood, and Sleep When I'm Dead at all either doesn't make sense to me.

I agree with certain songs that the line shouldn't be that low as many people will recognize certain non-hits but I've got to use some criteria here, which are the Billboard Hot 100 chart positions. I can't just put a peak in the graph and put Blood On Blood at 50 simply because there's the assumption that people know it. However, ask anyone in America what they think of Sleep and they haven't got any clue what song it is. It charted at 97 (I know pretty much all chart positions for America from the top of my head now after making so many graphs) and the low chart position for Sleep was the reason why the record company didn't bother to even release I Believe and Dry County there. As a matter of fact, more people will dig We Got It Goin' On over Born To Follow, while the latter is the one that'll show up as a peak in the graph. The same goes for Blood On Blood. Most 40+ year olds will know the song, but anyone in their twenties who became a fan because of It's My Life over there won't recognize the song at all. At the same time It's My Life only charted at 33 in America yet stayed in the chart for months. While Bad Medicine made it to number 1 based upon both sales and airplay, It's My Life made it to 33 based upon airplay only, where it stayed for a very long time. So yeah, the graph is just merely an indication as to how familiar a crowd is with the songs, and when looking at them it still gives you a rather good idea at the pace of the show. Once the band will hit Germany or the U.K. you'll see big differences in the peaks (Bad Medicine only made it to 54 in Germany), yet when looking at the bigger picture it's still one of the peaks in the graph, hence people knowing it. :) Salaam Aleikum, Sebastiaan |
Sister in Law is a Jovi fan and works at the Columbus Arena - soundcheck right now bed of roses and LIVING IN SIN !!!!!
|
we got a pretty inspired show on the circle tour with Phil X and the 2003 we got symphony of destruction during a level 2 snow emergency (blizzard)
we will be there tonight recording and Julie will probably tweet a play by play and hatefest for bobby Dave |
A friend posted she heard soundcheck with These Days sang by Richie as well as Living in Sin
|
no confirmation on These days from SIL, she says hallways are chock full of Jovi stuff, hard to move around and work, also at the staff meeting they were told Bon Jovi goes on live at 7:30 - we clued her into the lie :)

I wouldn't make too much out of Richie singing TD, I think he's just letting Jon rest his voice, so that the band could still rehearse the song. Jon had a 3 hour show yesterday, which included lots of demanding stuff, like Always, Sat.Night, Roses, etc., and he has another show today and since I'd doubt he's gonna go from a 27 song set to ~21 the next night, it makes sense for him to rest.
If Richie indeed does sing TD at the show, I'm glad he finally got to sing, but this is the last song he should be doing in a Jovi show. He'd better do Every Road, for an American crowd most of them will be just as unfamiliar, so you might at least play a song that's your own and recent. |

Sorry to be the downer but I don't think we'll get Living In Sin tonight, Jon's voice may not be up to it after last night, he looked drained, but I hope I am wrong and we get it tonight!
|
I agree. I hope Jon is up to it though. Any word on show time? Isn't it 8:30 in Ohio now?
