Since LH? Definitely on TC tour.

When Dry County was played on the HAND tour the lyrics were taped to the stage next to the setlist.

I think it started on the Lost Highway Tour. He most definitely had a teleprompter at the LH show in Denver in 2008 I went to. I don't think Richie got his until The Circle Tour though.

Surely he knows the lyrics to his songs - so why the need for the prompter?

Do you ever sing a song and can't remember the next line? Well, with 15,000 people staring at you, and you're strumming a guitar and trying to keep the band in check etc. Imagine that!
