Twist & Shout The last time Bon Jovi played Austin was January 30, 1989. Indeed, it's been a while since they played there. Bon Jovi have however played in Houston on May 17, 2011, which was very sadly, without our beloved drunk dog lover Richie Sambongo. (These topics will be a remarkable read in a few years when someone looks it up for whatever reason) The setlist did not contain any surprise. However, Jon sang Lay Your Hands On Me with the extended jam near the end, and this has been an America exclusive. Ha! I bet you feel blessed now. A graph showcasing the order of album and single tracks. A peak indicates the chart position in the Billboard Hot 100, thus a crowd possibly knowing such a song. The more peaks, the more familiar a crowd is with the entire set. In case no peak is noted the song either didn't chart or wasn't released as a single. http://www.bonjovi-archives.com/20_G...h_20110517.jpg Songs played per album: http://www.bonjovi-archives.com/20_G...h_20110517.jpg In case people are interested in the set from their last visit to Austin, click here. I've got to get up before this show is finished so I hereby again grant a moderator permission to add the setlist in this topic. Goodnighy my beloved Bon Jovi fans, xoxo. Salaam Aleikum, Sebastiaan |
I got Lay Your Hands On Me with the extended jam in Dresden and Munich in 2011 as well?! Not that exclusive :D
|
8/14 songs played in Austin in 1989 have a pretty good chance of getting played tonight.

How long till kick off?
|
Show always starts about 8:15 and, as a google search will enlighten you, that's now.
|
Opened with That's What The Water Made Me.
|
I hope they keep always....
Why?? I don't know, so I can see youtube vids of it. That's why bands tour nowadays anyway, to be on youtube... |

I don't see what the big deal is about opening with the water song.

On the bright side, this leg has had more setlist variation than the last American leg with Phil X, but that's not saying much. |
As per backstage:

Sleep When I'm Dead/Start Me Up 19. Bad Medicine/Twist & Shout A lot of changes for the beginning. I do hate that 6/7 combo though. |

Question: When was the extra KTF solo dropped? Has it been gone since Richie left?

Might as well just make our peace with the fact that no new songs will make the sets other than maybe Amen until Richie comes back, and even then, it's doubtful...

Still don't see what's so special aboot water opening. |
If he reminds you of a negative unimpressed douche that's because he is. 20yrs old and acts like he's allowed to have an opinion of a band that is long before his time as if its comparable. The fk out of here.
|
It's not special. It's just nice to see something different and hopefully unpredictable for the upcoming shows. Let people be excited and or happy. Go cry in your miserable corner.

First time I heard That's What The Water Made Me I thought it sounded like a setlist opener.
Hopefully it stays where it is - I don't like Bad Name opening. |
Encore:
Someday I'll Be Saturday Night (Acoustic) Wanted Dead or Alive Have a Nice Day Livin' on a Prayer Encore 2: I Love This Town Twist and Shout |
Twist And Shout in Bad Medicine and as the closer...?

Um...don't like the reorganization of the beginning. The setlist didn't need to be even more like the Circle Tour. Either way...love Water but liked its old position in the set.
I should stop reading PBP's since my show is next week. |

I have a show tomorrow and I have had it with this tour. It's Bon Jovi season, I have limited this tour to two shows and my level of excitement is at the equivalent of going to see the new Channing Tatum movie. And I am not a Channing Tatum fan mind you. I don't hate him... just indifferent and that is how I feel about Bon Jovi right now. Part of it is that Richie is not going to be there. Richie is roughly 50% of Bon Jovi to me. So, 1/2 of my Bon Jovi experience will be missing tomorrow. But Richie, being gone is not nearly all the reason I am not excited about the show. Bon Jovi's ticket prices go up every tour and the performances are either staying completely the same (if we are lucky) or going down... and let's face it, their current releases aren't exactly the reason I became a fan. Be it as it may, I would still go and look forward to the show if they'd at least change up the set. This is the same damn set list as the Lost Highway tour! Even the fillers are the same. And the sad thing is, I would still look forward to it if there was a JUST A CHANCE to get something other than the 3 or 4 songs they are choosing to play off WAN. WAN is, in my opinion their best album since HAND... and BWC and the title track are two of my least favorite songs on the album. If there was a chance I'd get IWY, TAT, BW, or POY, I'd be excited. What a bad time to be a Bon Jovi fan. |
I like the fact that TWTWMM is an opener but I dont think there is a better opener than I Believe.
|
I agree. There really isn't a better opener then I believe.

What are you trying to say? :p |
Ten years ago, a song like this as an opener would have made people f*cking crazy... in a negative way.
It would be like opening with Just Older... I know Jon can't spring out from under the stage any more to LYHOM but Jesus wept, this is less of an opening tune that YGLABN - at least Jon wasn't playing guitar on that and hit the stage with some energy. Uninspired and thoroughly uninspiring. |

Let me save you the bother, here are a list of songs that Jon loves where he has more energy than BN (which, is also a shite opener, BTW - but at least he isn't pointlessly shackled to a guitar) I Love This Town, Who Says, Capt Crash, Lost Highway, We Got It Goin On, Born To Follow... the list goes on and frankly, bores my tits off. Jon only puts his energy into tunes he likes himself, everyone who isn't a blind follower knows that. So why not open with Have A Nice Day? He bloody loves that song and it's at least got some balls. At the beginning of a concert, I want to see Jon Bon Jovi, the best frontman I've ever witnessed full of energy and on a personal note, the band need to be playing a tune that's got a little more substance to it. Before I get the whole 'you're stuck in the past... ' stuff (not necessarily from you) maybe I am... maybe that's because I remember this band before Jon tried to change it into a plodding e-street replica. I don't mind this song but sweet mercy, are people really, honestly satisfied with it as an opener!?!?! Have our expectations of showmanship and our memories of what this band can do slipped so far? |

I was at the O2 when they played "Happy Now" as the opener - worked for me......

big deal a few songs have moved (not gone just moved) what a great improvement About water : I love that song it's good on the cd and it sounds good live too but I would think to waste ALL THE ENERGY on the first song is too bad ... the opener has to be dynamic but definitely not a great song because it's a warming zone for all - but probably that's just me .. as an opener I often ask for a song I don't really care about because there I lose it ... the opener is a lost song - necessarily sacrified |
