Jon Bon Jovi, Axl Rose, or Steven Tyler...
Who do you like to least like? Overall as a song writer, frontman?

Jon wrote the first song I ever truly fell in love with (Blaze), vocally I actually think his sound is more unique than Tyler's or Axl's though he's nowhere near as strong a singer as those two, but it's the songwriting I love the most. Axl is probably the worst frontman out of the three. His attitude stinks too. However, there are times on song (piano version of November Rain) when his voice gave me actual chills. I'd put Axl in the middle. Steve Tyler is far and away the best frontman, and probably the best vocalist too. But it's all about the songs, and whilst there's certain Aerosmith songs I love, the rest are just okay to me. |

These days, he's a bit of a parody of himself but still has some of the old magic. Saw him in 2010 in Belfast and Dublin. It showed the two sides of him - in Belfast he was excellent but in Dublin he nearly caused a riot after walking off stage. Never seen Tyler live but believe he is excellent. Jon is excellent as well. I've never seen a bad show from him and the Dublin show in 2000 (the famous thunder storm show) was the best live performance I've seen bar none. |
I think at some points in their careers that they have all been the best frontman in rock. I think Jon Bon Jovi is the most complete front man of the three and I think around the These Days era he was just the best and untouchable.
Now they are all shadows of their former selves, so if we take on peak, yeah I would have JBJ as number one, perhaps Mr Rose at number 2, and Tyler at number 3. |
depends, depends, depends....but if you judge based on impact, longevity and consistency - Steven Tyler wins, hands down.

80s JBJ and Axl - that's where my love if these bands started - would be so close but JBJ just edges it by a whisker - only cos I fell in love with New Jersey first.
Axl was my 2nd hero and when Jovi took a break in 90-92 - I worshipped Axl. I guess I still do. I liked Aerosmith - last 15 years have been a joke and last album was shite but pump and get a grip are fantastic. But I never wanted to be Steven Tyler but I did want to be the other two....still do!! |

And those are waaaay better than ChiDem. |
Am I the only one who actually likes a lot of the more recent albums from Aerosmith? I think both 9 Lives, Just Push Play and the last one have some great tunes on them.
