Official April 20, 2013, MGM Grand Arena, Las Vegas thread
Aloha !
Predictions, disappointments, reviews and rants about this show go in this topic. 1. That's What The Water Made Me 2. You Give Love A Bad Name 3. Born to Be My Baby 4. Raise Your Hands 5. Lost Highway 6. Superman Tonight 7. It's My Life 8. Because We Can 9. What About Now 10. I Love This Town 11. Keep The Faith 12. Amen 13. Bed Of Roses 14. Last Man Standing 15. We Weren't Born To Follo 16. Who Says You Can't Go Home 17. I'll Sleep When I'm Dead 18. Bad Medicine Encore: 19. When We Were Beautiful 20. Wanted Dead Or Alive 21. Livin' On A Prayer The last time Bon Jovi played Las Vegas was March 19, 2011. The setlist contained three surprises; Blaze Of Glory made its tour premiere, Love For Sale was played in the acoustic set and Dry County opened the encore. Other rare songs were Richie's rendition of Lay Your Hands On Me with the jam session and the acoustic rendition of Someday I'll Be Saturday Night. Other things worth mentioning was the band opening with Prayer, no Lost Highway, only 1 song of The Circle and ending with In These Arms, which was an audible for that night. Yes, excluding I Love This Town, this was a pretty good setlist and all was good in die hard land that night. A graph showcasing the order of album and single tracks. A peak indicates the chart position in the Billboard Hot 100, thus a crowd possibly knowing such a song. The more peaks, the more familiar a crowd is with the entire set. In case no peak is noted the song either didn't chart or wasn't released as a single. http://www.bonjovi-archives.com/20_G...h_20110319.jpg Songs played per album: http://www.bonjovi-archives.com/20_G...h_20110319.jpg Considering how These Days was supposed to be played last night and Hey God being an audible it wouldn't surprise me if one of the songs would show up tonight. After all, they'll be in the continent of the high and mighty fans in Europe soon so better run through them before they present them in their full glory to us. :p Salaam Aleikum, Sebastiaan |
I was at the show in Vegas on the Lost Highway tour, and I thought it was the one time (out of nearly 30 shows) that Jon kind of just went through the motions. It was a still a good show, and I got In These Arms (which I love), but Jon didn't seem to really give anything extra.
The set list on The Circle Tour and the show above were much better, and considering the set list and audibles last night (plus I think there is fan club trip for this show), I expect tonight to be great show. |
I see the time machine is back. ;)

Aloha !
Well well, Superman Tonight replaced Whole Lot Of Leavin', and Work For The Working Man was replaced by another cringeworthy song. It's either going to be a first half for Jon second half for the crowd kind of set, or just a mediocre show anyway. Salaam Aleikum, Sebastiaan |

2011, eh Seb? ;)
For the record, I'd much rather hear Superman over Whole Lot of Leavin and I Love This Town over Work for the Working Man. |

I Love This Town being played so early is an interesting choice.

So Amen turns into Bed of Roses? That's a good tradeoff.

I have a hunch Hey God or These Days makes a premier tonight. Once they hit Europe I'm confident that the shows will be awesome on a night to night basis again. |
Some songs in different places. I'll Be There For You must be in the encore?

Weakest set list on this whole tour?
|
First Jovi show...was it worth it? Yes. Would I do multiple shows? No, I don't want to see the same show over and over and start nit picking about set lists and performances. :-) But if Richie returns, I'd love to see a true Bon Jovi show. It was short by Jovi standards but after a 3-hour LA show, I didn't think we would get a long show with any rarities. Maybe the next (and last) show of this leg will.
The show started at 8:40 although my ticket said 8:00 and my reminder email said to be there by 7:30. Full house but not a sell out. I did see people of all ages from teens to people in their 60s so they aren't lying about attracting all ages/multiple generations. Only 22 songs with one encore set but I and the crowd enjoyed it. The visual production and lighting were impressive. i do wish there were more screens and that said screens wouldn't focus on Jon 99.9% of the time. Phil did great as a leading guitarist, bless him for filling in. Jon did fine. A couple of more comments: Because We Can - may not have any staying power with the Jovi catalog but it worked well live with the crowd. I love This Town - I almost laughed when it started playing and immediately thought, "at least we won't get it as an encore" which opened up the possibility of a different song in the encore. Amen - don't like the recording but it was quite beautiful live and was warmly received by the audience. Last Man Standing - another song that I don't like as a recording but it is great live and I can see how it would work well as an opener. When We Were Beautiful - yep, sucked the energy right out of the venue. However, Jon obviously loves the song and he worked hard to deliver it. I'll let him have this song as an artist's right. Bad Medicine - for me, it has gotten kind of old but it serves it's purpose. The crowd loved the Lost Highway songs so they are here to stay at least in the US. Finally, I loved Tico's playing (and I don't understand drums at all), David was superb on keys (I wish he was given more intros and outros), I didn't mind Bobby and I didn't notice Hugh's playing or presence at all except to notice that he was on stage. |
