Songs that Jon can't sing anymore - Play them or not ??

So, the second leg of the tour is almost finished and one thing I'm sure of is that Jon's voice is in terrible shape.

In 2008 he sounded good singing Always, These Days, Hey God ... In 2010 and 2011 he was still able to sound decent on those songs, he even gave us a good rendition of Something to Believe in (Sydney 2010) and I Believe in Lisbon.

However, his attemps at singing Always on this tour really makes me sad. He sounds terrible and shouts instead of singing. Not to mention his painful expression while singing it.

So, would you rather have him butcher those songs but play them anyway, or drop them ?

I was going to say play it, but after I saw this (), I've changed my mind.

I voted for play it. I'd always rather different songs get cycled through (even if they don't sound great) than I do the same old stuff night in and night out.

If they'd drop all the songs Jon can't sing anymore, it would be either a very short or a very boring set list. Anything pre-2000's would have to go and there's only a handful of post-2000 songs I'd like to hear.

I said it many years ago that they should've called it quits. Now it's pretty much too late, they've already ****ed up the legacy.

I'd love to hear a bunch of acoustic versions of songs in different, lower keys. I loved Santa Fe. I'd like them to do that to more songs.

Note that I said acoustic and NOT this left feels right.

Transpose them. Can't figure out why they haven't done it before (except ITA).

Play it. Id rather a poor effort at a rare song thrown in rather than a standard staple thats been played a million times. They don't sound as bad when you are at the concert anyway, being in a crowd can hide the vocal faults that watching back on Youtube cannot

Phil X play the solo, has no feeling, is sterile, lifeless.

With Santa Fe (and Saturday Night and Radio) I hate that they drop the chorus an octave. I wish they'd just drop the key down a couple full steps (transpose it). That's make Radio pretty low on the verses but Santa Fe, it'd work beautifully.

Transpose songs. ITA 2013 sounds pretty different than 1992 but it's still a good song and that comes through even with the key dropped. This would require some practice on the part of the band, however.

JBJ can't hit these notes anymore. I feel for him. I have to sing for a living and I know how tough it is to songs that you need/want to do but are just too high for your range. However, transposing would be an easy solution rather than continuing to hammer on all these Lost Highway-era songs.

He keeps trying to write hits because he still wants to do this and knows that his biggest hits are all things he can't pull off like he once did and he wants to replace them in the setlist.

Jon is 50 (or 51)- he's never gonna sound like he did 5-10-15-20 years ago...so what. I vote-play it. Play ITA, Always, Sat Night, etc....they still kick ass live! I don't need him to sound perfect, if I do I'll just pop in the CD.
