Vienna often gets good, but rather safe shows. The last show really was the exception when it came to surprises in the set, and even that setlist didn't have any planned beforehand. I'm expecting more of the same, with the addition of Dry County.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Uh oh. High pollen forecast in Vienna ... http://www.meteovista.com/Europe/Hay-fever-Austria/142

:(

efpg0708 05-16-2013 01:49 AM

Very good memories from that show ! Absolutely killer versions of Blood on Blood and Saturday Night !

GabrielC 05-16-2013 01:59 AM

We will have to start looking for Pollen forecasts now?

Agree! Also Who Says was a good version, the breakdown part was a bit different the usual. The 'time machine' intro for Runaway from HAND tour was back too!

Regarding the surprises of the show, they also played Radio Saved My Life Tonight. Also Hallelujah was only played a few times in 2011, so it was just as rare as Wild Is The Wind. Whole Lot Of Leavin' started the first encore, which is a staple now again (unfortunately), but on that show it was actually a sign request and was only played in Europe a couple of times in 2011.

Wrong date Seb, the show is at the 17th not the 16th, I think there is some secret gig today though.

They originally said that this would be some sort of all try-out performance today since no one was familiar with the new stage. But this was at the point where they didn't think they'd bring it to Bulgaria and Jon wasn't sick so I pretty much doubt there'll be anything going on today.

Yes, the last Vienna show was great indeed. To begin with, I was not planning on travelling to Austria that summer. But after having witnessed JB injure his meniscus in Helsinki a month earlier I felt I needed to see Bon Jovi one more time that tour.
Such a great concert it was. The encores kept on coming, Jon was on fire, the crowd was awesome. One of the best BJ shows I´ve witnessed since the NJ tour, actually.

what do you think...should I go to this show or not?

Have you got a ticket?

fairtex444 05-16-2013 03:24 PM

not yet...there are plenty of them still available

Bounce7800 05-16-2013 03:57 PM

If you can get one cheap and don't have to pay much to travel, go for it.

Just re-watched the "Saturday Night" performance from 2011 Vienna and it really was incredible. Am I overhyping it? It really makes me debate going to one of New Jerseys stadium shows this summer in hopes of something remotely cool as this. Matt confirmed they are using the car stage for the stadium shows in the US, so that would be a cool thing to see then the same old circle stage as well.

fairtex444 05-16-2013 10:08 PM

well I decided not to go....the "best" thing I could get is Bobby's solo in Bad name and Jon's rusty voice..saved 100€ .

gabriele 05-16-2013 10:24 PM

Wow.........

ezearis 05-16-2013 11:28 PM

Any news on the secret gig?

Since they used the new stage in Sofia I doubt this gig will still take place...

afk 05-17-2013 12:33 AM

They took pics with a few lucky fans today and had a press conference. The stage is still being built and as far as i know there was no secret anything today ;)

Jonty 05-17-2013 12:39 AM

That wasn't what I was referring to. They surely have a minimum of 2, if not even 3 stages they carry around in Europe. But the band talked about playing that secret gig in order to try out how all the stuff with the new stage works. Since they already played their Bulgarian show on that new stage they might not feel the need to doing another try-out today.

Simon 05-17-2013 01:29 AM

Agreed, Vienna 2011 was one of the best shows I've been too. It was special. Opening the encore with "Whole Lot Of Leaving" was weird, but it worked and got a surprisingly good reaction, and the rest of the encore couldn't have been better. And my appreciation for WLOL made a big big step forward in that show.

The overall atmosphere was amazing. If thas would have been my last BJ gig it would have been ending on a high point. Let's hope my Richie-less gig in Munich will not be my last...

I hope that's true for everyone who is going, but he'd be better off not making that kind of promise before-hand and just going for it on the night.

I really hope he won't sing 3 hours in Vienna and then has no voice for Munich left. :( It's alright if he is able to sing at both concerts for 3 hours. :D
