Where Were You Last Night (Nightwish)

Is it just me or this song is similar to You Give Love A Bad Name?

The intro does have something from it, but it's like one of those weird, terrible electronic covers you sometimes hear of popular songs.

It's the three similar songs: If you were a woman, Bad name and Where were you last night.

Holy cow, not just the intro, the verses as well.

It reminds me even more of If You Were A Woman, but the resemblence is undeniable.

That's more obvious than the time I blatantly ripped off Toto's Hold The Line by simply inverting the chords differently

In the late 80īs or early 90īs, there was this female artist called Ankie Bagger (or something like that). She was a one-hit -wonder and that song was Where Were You Last Night. A complete Bad Name -rip off.

The best way to write a hit song is to steal the riff of an existing hit song

Here's the original: (it isn't a Nightwish song, like stated above)

And yes, it's similar, but then again, so were many others. The chord sequence isn't exactly original and neither is the melody. Bon Jovi themselves have recycled and reused the same chords many times, most notable would probably be It's My Life.

Here's one they said plagiarized LOAP:
Ice

Huh? Are you talking about the pre-chorus? IML is Cm / G# / d# / a#, YGLABN is Cm / G# / A# / Cm / G# / A# / d#. Yeah, same chord material, but not the same progression at all.
