So c'mon... What is a realistic set list they should play?

Hi,
Every 1 is slating the set lists... We all have our opinions. You got to be realistic about what Jon can pull off vocally but this is my wish list!!
Bruce is mixing it up so much and his fans are loving it. Here goes my set list....

Living on a prayer
Bad name
Wild in the streets
Born to be my baby
Keep the faith
Always
Because we can
What the water made me
Amen
Radio saved my life tonight
Runaway
Lay your hands on me
It's my life
Have a nice day
Any other day
I'll be there for you
Blood on blood
Wanted

Encore 1
Bounce
Undivided
Something to believe in

Encore 2
Hey god
This ain't a love song
These days

ezearis 05-25-2013 03:01 AM

My "things that Jon can pull out vocally without leaving out great hits" setlist:

1. Livin' On A Prayer
2. You Give Love A Bad Name
3. Everyday
4. Lay Your Hands On Me
5. Pictures Of You
6. Superman Tonight or Happy Now
7. It's My Life
8. Because We Can. I'd say "or Summertime", but this song can't be moved because the tour is named after it.
9. That's What The Water Made Me
10. We Got It Going On
11. One Wild Night or Born To Be My Baby
12. This Ain't A Love Song
13. I'll Be There For You of Bed Of Roses
14. Misunderstood (Acoustic) or Mystery Train (Acoustic) or Learn To Love (Acoustic) or Diamond Ring or any acoustic thing they want to do for us. In These Arms by David Bryan is another good option.
15. Just Older or The Radio Saved My Life Tonight
16. Beautiful World
17. Wild In The Streets
18. I'm With You
19. Wanted Dead Or Alive
20. Next 100 Years or Any Other Day (with extended solo)

Encore:
21. Get Ready or Bounce
22. Last Man Standing or Hey God
23. Have A Nice Day
24. Thank You For Loving Me
25. Keep The Faith

Here's how they could put out a much better show with a set similar to what was played in Stockholm.

MAIN SET:
1. That's What The Water Made Me
2. You Give Love A Bad Name
3. Born To Be My Baby
4. Blood on Blood
5. Raise Your Hands
6. Blaze of Glory
7. It's My Life
8. Because We Can
9. Thorn In My Side
10. One Wild Night
11. Keep The Faith
12. Make a Memory
13. I'll Be There For You
14. Army of One
15. I'm with you
16. Who Says You Can't Go Home
17. I'll Sleep When I'm Dead (with Rockin' All Over The World from start to finish)
18. Bad Medicine (with part of Start Me Up)

ENCORE I:
19. Dry County
20. Wanted
21. Have A Nice Day
22. Prayer

ENCORE 2:
23. In These Arms

I'd be very happy with this set, at least on paper. Even if you don't like the songs I inserted, my point is: you don't have to change the whole set to make the show better. The problem is the high number of dulls in the set.

Agree, though I don't love your setlist, the problem are the dulls. They could improve a lot a setlist by shaking up things a little.

Lots of variation, epic shows. Nothing they didn't play before these past tours except Little bit of soul which is pretty easy to sing and some others maybe easy to sing too.

With these sets I'd love to follow a whole tour to "catch 'em all"

I'm a long time lurker of this forum, Bon Jovi fan for years, but I have to chime in; what on Earth is their problem when it comes to creating a set list?? It's such a simple, simple thing. You need to include the hits, the fan favorites and the rarities/obscurities. The 3 necessities to a great gig. Does Jon think every person at his shows are casual fans? Every show should include at least one or two rarities. Why the hell not?

If I was a performer with 12 studio albums worth of material I'd love to give my die hards something special at each show. Plus it would be a breath of fresh air in the set to keep it from getting boring. Who cares if the casuals don't recognize it! Make sure every album gets a nod at a show too. Come on, at least one song from 7800, These Days and Bounce each night. That's all!

I respect Jon's right to pick whatever songs he thinks works in a sterile football stadium but there are a couple of things that I just don't understand at the moment about the sets:

1. One venue gets 27-28 songs one night and another gets 23. This is unfair. I can understand a 1-2 song difference if band into it, crowd good etc but 5-6 sing difference is wrong it treats certain fans and towns as second class.

2. The lack of WAN songs and prominence of Lost Highway songs. Don't understand why they won't play songs off new album.

3. Insistence on the belief that we still want to hear songs like Sleep When I'm Dead and Who Says instead of Hey God, I Believe, Never Say Goodbye, Something to Believe In, etc. some songs have really outstayed their welcome.
