Official June 16, 2013 - UK - Newport -Isle Of Wight Thread

I'll start the thread as I will be going to the show.

Bon Jovi do have some pretty big boots to fill:

David Bowie
REM
Coldplay
RollingStones
The Police
Neil Young
Paul McCartney
Kasabian
Bruce Springsteen

so lets see what happens with it being a festival and all.....

All I know is it will be better than Slane..... :)

Walkerboy 05-30-2013 12:29 PM

Seeing as Sky currently have nothing advertising coverage of this, I tweeted them last night to find out if they will be covering.
They will only be showing highlights this year, nothing shown live :(

steel_horse75 05-30-2013 01:52 PM

Shame as last year it was on in 3D

Walkerboy 06-06-2013 09:47 PM

Yvonne's gonna love this ...... Weekend camping tickets were available for just £85 earlier today!!!

Yvonne 06-06-2013 09:50 PM

Hahaha! Couldn't go for the whole weekend as I'm working on Friday.... Best part about next weekend is, its going to rain  Thats the forecast at the moment.

You left out the most iconic performers at the festival.

Are Absolute Radio covering this live? I've had a look on their website but can't find anything definitive!

Why do you think it is going to be better than Slane?!

KeepTheFaith2211 06-09-2013 04:08 PM

The Doors played Isle of Wight in 1970 too.

Ruggy 06-11-2013 02:03 PM

And when they reach the chorus of I don't Like Mondays Richie will jump out from behind the stage, kick Phil up the arse and carry on where he left off.

Just my prediction.

Yvonne 06-14-2013 02:08 AM

Ugh if this is true.... Boomtown Rats are on before them so its possible.

Walkerboy 06-14-2013 11:22 AM

Wouldn't be so bad if it had never happened before, but now it's almost expected.
Couple of people from work have gone for the weekend, so I'm looking forward to hearing what they think of Sunday!

Yvonne 06-14-2013 09:27 PM

Just on the IOW website and there live video streaming, so keep an eye out.

Yvonne 06-14-2013 11:39 PM

For anyone who is interested heres the stage times for some acts:

Boomtown Rats 15:25 - 16:15
Paloma Faith 16:45 - 17:45
The Script 18:15 - 19:15
Bon Jovi 19:45 - 22:45

The main stage closes at 11pm....

Walkerboy 06-14-2013 11:43 PM

Just watching the stream of FUN on the website and can't even begin to imagine how mad the crowd could go for songs like Prayer, Wanted, Always etc.

Yvonne 06-14-2013 11:47 PM

Its gonna be great :)

I've just tuned into Paul Wellar, looking good. I hope the stream works on Sunday too!

Yvonne 06-16-2013 01:02 AM

Won't be online tomorrow for obvious reasons, will be in a field somewhere on the island :) Hoping for a good one and no wellies needed here :)

Not a fair comparison, Fun. performed on a secondary stage to a small audience, whereas Jovi are, obviously the main stage headliners. Remember the crowd noise during the HRC broadcast 2 years ago? I think tonight is gonna be similar, but it will be even better with the video :)

Let's just hope Jon delivers decent vocals.

Kathleen 06-16-2013 09:41 PM

Shouldn't this be on in a few minutes or do I have my times screwed up? Daylight savings time maybe?

If they will let me sure - they can get picky about SBD stuff.
