Dave "Snake" Sabo interview
 

I hope this hasn't been posted already, I haven't seen it. In case it has, I apologize.

A couple weeks ago, Snake Sabo was interviewed on 99.1 CJAM-FM radio for about 2 hours. It's one of those interesting, in-depth interviews where you start telling the story from the beginning onwards.
He also talks about his experience with Bon Jovi. He doesn't say anything that we don't know already, I think, but it's still quite enjoyable to listen to the story from his point of view. He also mentions how he audiotioned for Cinderella when Jon got his eyes on them and he got to know they were looking for a new drummer and guitarist.

EDIT: I posted this while actually listening to it, and there is some stuff I didn't know about, like around the 25:00 mark when he talks about Jon saving his ass sending Tico over to the studio when his drummer ended up in jail.

EDIT 2: He talks about the name "Skid Row" and he tells the story of how he came up with it and then mentions he was hanging at Jon's house and said he finally came up with a name, Skid Row, and Jon thought it was genius. I've always thought it was actually Jon the one who came up with it.

You're welcome! It was nice to listen to, and he basically mentions Bon Jovi or its members all throughout the interview. LOL
He seems very passionate about things, got a lot of interesting facts and stories to tell and apparently he's still friends with Jon. Cool!

In case you guys never listened to them, lots of Phantom's Opera songs (Alec's band and I think Tico played with them too at some point) are on youtube now.
They sound very very tight. Snake is praising the singer in that interview - but to me that was their weakest piece. Otherwise, they sound fantastic. Here's a Judas Priest cover:

Dean Fasano was the former vocalist with the band before he joined Message. By the way, Message's first album "Lessons"(1982) rocks. The album features Richie Sambora on guitar and Alec John Such on bass. :)

It's an interesting fact that Alec is Phantom's Opera co-founder. He founded the band together with Jack Young (the keyboard player) in 1969. Tico left the band to join Franke & the Knockouts in 1981 .

Awesome Interview! Just Finished! Even the stuff that wasn't about Bon Jovi was great. This guy is a great interview. I really enjoyed his take on the music industry. Seems like a great guy!

I hear you, man. I was actually supposed to go to bed earlier than usual the other night, then I started listening to this and, well, it kept me glued to my chair till the very end. He seems like a very nice guy.
I do need to give a listen to all these bands the Guys were involved in before Bon Jovi. There are tons, but I really want to. As for Skid Row, I think I need to catch up with them, I probably haven't checked anything since "Thickskin", and that was out, like, ten years ago.

Agreed. 18 and Life was the song that turned me onto rock music. I remember taping it from the radio and going what is this? At that point, 10 or 11 years old my music collection consisted of Michael Jackson and Now That's What I Call Music CD's. Bon Jovi were still a couple of years away from my radar.
