10 most annoying rock star behaviors

Since annoying behaviors of concerts goers were discussed previously, RollingStone Magazine has an article on annoying rock star behaviors. Bon Jovi is guilty IMO of 2 out of 10. What do you think? Can you add to the list? Give examples especially if they pertain to Bon Jovi. Yes, this means you can add "Band keeps touring when lead singer can't sing"--lol. Here is the link to the article:

Just saying: four hours late?!? Who the hell would do that and who the hell would wait that long?

Bon Jovi are guilty of
#2: excluding key members
#4: playing mostly hits, with only very few rarities
#7: playing perverse versions of hit songs (TLFR versions)
and #10: exploiting fans financially

They are also kind of guilty of #8: Not much variety in setlists these days

I agree with all your picks except #4: Playing too many hits.

Their problem isn't playing too many hits, it's playing the same album cuts over and over again, tour after tour. Yes, I could go a few tours without hearing Bad Name, Who Says, or even Wanted, but I don't have a problem with those songs, it's singles that were failures (like Lost Highway, I'll Sleep When I'm Dead, Whole Lot of Leaving, etc) and other album tracks that need to be replaced with other album tracks that haven't been played in years... and this kind of goes hand in hand with #8.

Number 3 hardcore at the beginning of the tour. It's still really bad. Three or four new songs is still too much.

Hmmm... didn't Richie exclude himself? Also i don't think they play "perverse versions" in their live shows. TLFR was years ago, wasn't well received and I don't recall them touring behind it.
One of the comments on the article was interesting and applies to Bon Jovi for better or worse: "Also, getting the audience to sing half the song for you."

It doesn't matter if Richie did or didn't exclude himself. Like the aricle said, if someone doesn't want to be a "rock star" anymore, then they are free to leave. It's a band not the mafia. The point is they're continuing without a key member and the quality is suffering as a result and they're pretending like everything is fine.

And the TLFR versions: I'm glad they don't do them anymore. But the point is that they tried.

I guess Axl Rose would do that. But I can see Bon Jovi fits in most of the cases :D

If you think TLFR was bad you should see a Dylan show. Wanted to see Dylan at least once in my life and went in 2008/2009. May as well not have gone. Worst gig I've ever been to. I could forgive his voice being shot but none of his songs, except Like a Rolling Stone, were recognisable. At least Bon Jovi only did a couple of songs per show. Dylan did an entire show. People were bored stiff.

I don't think Bon Jovi are guilty of too many of the above. Yeah we give out about the setlists but they do vary them compared to most acts. I've seen GnR and Def Leppard a couple of times. Great acts but the exact same show. To the song pretty much.

They also balance the hits v new songs reasonably well. I could live without Bad Name but if I went to see RHCP for example, I'd expect Under the Bridge or if I went to see U2, I'd expect to hear One and be disappointed if I didn't.

For Bon Jovi:

1. Show up ridiculously late - not guilty

2. Exclude key band members - guilty. BJ without Sambora and AJS = weaker version

3. Play too much from the new album - guilty. I had the misfortune of getting 8 HAND songs in HAND tour. Without BOBITA.

4. Only perform the hits - not guilty

5. Play anything resembling a medley - guilty but this is really not a problem if the medley is for cover songs, now if they had medleyed their own songs, it would be a problem

6. Ignore the music of your beloved former band - not applicable

7. Play perverse arrangements of your songs - guilty with TLFR

8. Never vary the setlist - not guilty. Maybe not varied enough, but they are not as bad as Poison. The problem with the setlist is not making BOBITA a permanent fixture.

9. Solo - not guilty

10. Squeeze every possible penny out of fans - guilty
