Radio interview. I just started listening to it myself. |
I watched Hired Gun tonight. They certainly used Phil as a selling point disproportionately to his time on screen. Of course, his story is not filled with the angst and drama of guys who have replaced dead members or dealt with the death of a member or just played with Billy Joel.

They didn't get into why he was working with Bon Jovi or anything like that. He said he was hoping for to focus on his own band at the time, "But how the f do you say no to Bon Jovi?" I got the impression that most of his involvement in the film was recorded prior to his becoming an official member of Bon Jovi.
As a documentary, it's really interesting to me. I put some faces with names I already knew. Not that I will remember their faces tomorrow. One guy early in the film mentioned being in Richie Supa's band and while the did not talk to him, I did notice the mention because I know he's written songs with Richie. A lot of it was deep diving into stories of Billy Joel's band, Jason Newstead, And others who had more dramatic tales to tell. |
