when you step into a certain situation with set dynamics it can be challenging for sure...
Jon said he is very talkative in the studio as is Richie, so there was little space for the rest. in thinfs jon said david stepped up to replace richie in the studio. i think jon and shanks are the leaders by character and position.. phil x is probably stuck in a situation where he doesnt want to push some boundaries but also be creative.. from many bits and pieces its obvious that jon is not positive to find another side kick in the face of phil, he probably realises better then any of us they are much different, especially song writing wise, which is the most important aspect for jon.. the comment about reunion tours is a bit weird, it may was a joke or a thought because of the distance he feels.. |
He has been especially vocal lately about how his work with The Drills is by far his preference over Bon Jovi. I'm amazed that Jon has not told him to STFU.

With the latest interview, I definitely got the feeling that he isn't the happy camper he seems to be with Bon Jovi. I felt that way about the interview he did right after the Rock Hall induction, too; when he was bitching about how crowded it seemed on the stage. But it seems to be even more obvious in these latest interviews. |

I can think of any number of more general ways to fill in the blanks before I'd get to something that specific - unless he has reason to think that that's in the band's future. |
Of course he prefers The Drills. That’s his band.
His style doesn’t fit Bon Jovi . He did 4 solos on THINFS so probably didn’t feel part of the band. Be interesting if he’s allowed to do all solos on new album and if they are allowed to be longer than 5 seconds. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
I guess it depends on the type of interview. When it's during the tour or together with the rest of Bon Jovi, he'll definitely act like a BJ member.
On the other hand, when he is off, he replies as Phil X and I totally understand that he prefers The Drills. It would make no sense if he didn't. Why would he have the band then? :D And I think Jon is fine with that. Phil does his job he is paid for, it's to be available for tours and deliver the songs. He is a member but only because a three piece band looks bad, moreover when there's no guitar player. So Hugh got in because it wouldn't be fair after all those years. They still don't know what the band is - sometimes it's Shanks with them, sometime the live band counts, so plus Everett. It's a mess. |

For the drills he can play what he likes opposed to what he is told to.

Not a bad song, actually. And I like the "emoji shorthand" in the video. That's kinda cool. :) |
