Official July 5th 2013 - Hyde Park, London, UK thread

Nobody done an official thread for this yet? Guess I might as well then!

This will be the third time that the band have played Hyde Park, the last being on the 25th of June 2011 headlining the Hard Rock Calling Festival, and the setlist was:

Raise Your Hands
You Give Love a Bad Name
Born to Be My Baby
We Weren't Born to Follow
Lost Highway
It's My Life
In These Arms
Blaze of Glory
Lay Your Hands on Me
Captain Crash & the Beauty Queen From Mars
Bad Medicine / Pretty Woman
Hallelujah
When We Were Beautiful
I'll Be There for You
Who Says You Can't Go Home
I'll Sleep When I'm Dead
Hey God
Have a Nice Day
Keep the Faith

Dry County
Wanted Dead or Alive
Someday I'll Be Saturday Night
Livin' on a Prayer

Always
These Days
Blood on Blood

I Love This Town

So, who is going? Predictions, thoughts?

This will be a pretty special show for me, as it will be my tenth time seeing the band, and also near enough the ten year anniversary of my first full Bon Jovi show, at the same venue in 2003. What with everything going on with the band at the moment, I've decided to approach this gig as if it were both my first time seeing the band, and also potentially the last. So I've spent way too much on GC tickets (at over double the price they were ten years ago!), and I plan to just do my utmost to enjoy every single song that they play, even the ridiculously overplayed and unnessecary ones (although I may have some difficulty during Lost Highway!) I know it's unlikely that there'll be any mega rarities, so I'll just take what I can (although hopefully it will be a setlist closer to the one in Slane than the Isle of Wight!)

2013 setlist:
Rockin' All Over the World
You Give Love a Bad Name
That's What the Water Made Me
Raise Your Hands
Born to Be My Baby
Lost Highway
It's My Life
Because We Can
What About Now
We Got It Goin' On
Keep the Faith
Someday I'll Be Saturday Night
In These Arms
Captain Crash & the Beauty Queen From Mars
We Weren't Born to Follow
Who Says You Can't Go Home
I'll Sleep When I'm Dead
Bad Medicine (With Pretty Woman and Roadhouse Blues)

Encore:
Dry County
Wanted Dead or Alive
Love's the Only Rule
Have a Nice Day
Livin' on a Prayer

Encore 2:
Always
These Days
Blood on Blood

I'm going !

I've a good feeling about the show , it should be the highlight of the european leg

steel_horse75 06-18-2013 12:23 AM

I'm going.
Gonna be superb

bonjovi90 06-18-2013 12:40 AM

Just seeing the setlist of Hyde Park 2 years ago made me realize what difference these live broadcasts were then and now. In 2011 I was over the moon, totally pumped and excited by the band's great show - yesterday I turned it off at some point. Like night and day :/

Walkerboy 06-18-2013 12:42 AM

I'm looking forward to it.
Got Diamond Circle and all paid for by father-in-law for wife's 40th.

JON4EVA 06-18-2013 02:13 AM

Ooh yay my tenth time too! Very excited :) Haven't been to a concert at Hyde Park before so curious as to what it'll be like. Still on a high from Villa Park and counting down the days! Could only afford GA after going DC in Birmingham - will seem like so far away from the stage! Also have a flight early the next morning so that will be interesting!

Hoping for a good set-list - Jon loves HP so prospects are good but once the concert starts I'm so easy to please that I'd be happy even if it was identical to Villa Park.

mo_rizwan 06-18-2013 03:30 AM

Damn, I was gonna start this Thread. Was giving it time lol

I can't wait for this Show. This will also be my 10th time seeing the Band. I know it won't be like 2011, but I still think this is gonna be a Great show :)

ticos_stick 06-18-2013 03:37 AM

This is the show Richie's coming back for, right?

IML88 06-18-2013 12:04 PM

I'm going on the day and trying to score cheaper than face value (assuming they don't groupon it to try and boost numbers in which case I'll buy prior).

I hope the numbers there are ok - i always feel a bias towards Bon Jovi concerts in London, I want them to play to a packed and energetic crowd.

Regardless of the bullsh*t going on - Jon does put on a very good show on his day and there are few better ways to spend a friday night than Bon Jovi, beer and a huge park.

Me too, screw you Walrus  :p

But of course, I'm looking forward to this one. It's the last event on my calendar before my life becomes knee deep in nappies, so I'm looking forward to doing what I don't normally do at BJ gigs and have a few ciders! I'm going to ignore my dislike for Crash and Who Says and go mental. Embrace the hate.

IT'S ALLRIGHT!

I may drink the ciders while in the queue - allows me plenty of time to evacuate bladder fully before 7.30pm!!! Don't want to be wandering in and out to pee after that, apart from the usual lull.

This exactly. Will be in Gold Circle with long suffering husband (Pah! he loves it really!) and very much looking forward to hooking up with my little sis there, as she is generally missing for months during festival season!

I usually manage to smuggle a small bottle of vodka in to gigs.. that way I can stop drinking pints and go onto the shorts around 5 o'clock. Gives me plenty of time to reduce the bladder contents and still have a drink. :D

Hyde Park will go one of 2 ways.... Be absolutely amazing or just be the same as any other show on the tour, needless to say I will be in London this particular weekend....

The Hyde Park gig will be broadcast on TV in the US only on AXS TV (Whatever that is) the weekend after.

Ha ha . . You pretty much wrote my post . . This too is my last blow until fatherhood ..

S I'm to bothered about the support acts . . What's the best time to get there to get a half decent spot in GC

Neurotica80 06-23-2013 11:45 PM

I just cannot see another "cologne". My bet is GH all the way aka Dublin, with the rare song being TD. Hope I'm wrong tho...

It's given me hope. A set like Hyde Park in 2011 would be fine, we got Hey God that night, so something else in the Hey God slot would be nice with an encore like Slane

70-30 for me to go to this show. I really want to but I would be gutted if I got another Slane show. Not saying Slane was bad, just expect it to be full of rarities when I should of expected it to be a Gh orientated set list. I have the same feeling about this show.

Hmm, decisions...

baileybums 06-24-2013 12:49 AM

Can any one shed any light on what to expect from GC . .is it the same as the football stadiums GC

KeepTheFaith2211 06-24-2013 01:19 AM

It must be terrible hearing 'Blood On Blood', 'These Days', 'Saturday Night', 'Always' etc. in one encore.

No-one is saying that.

I heard 3 of them a week before and was made up to hear them again, but it would be nice to get a rarity.

Would you prefer to hear a worse-quality song than say 'These Days', which is probably considered to be one of the best songs the band has ever written?

Mate, I would of been buzzing with 'Loves The Only Rule' at Slane. I know you dislike it, but all it would of took is to hear ONE song that I hadn't heard along them lines to get me buzzing. It didn't even have to be a rarity as big as This Ain't A Love Song.

To answer your question, yes. I was made up to hear These Days at Manchester and I was at Slane so that is out of the equation, really. These Days will always be welcome in set lists, for me.

Fair enough. I totally disagree but that is your opinion and it's a fair one.

I went mental for 'Someday I'll Be Saturday Night' two weeks ago which is a song I always felt I needed to hear, but it's not considered rare. Getting it again in Glasgow would be awesome, and I would not swap that song for say...'Any Other Day'.

But hey, different strokes and all that eh? :D

Absolutely, same for me. And I would have to add Dry County to that list too. I spent 10+ years going to shows and not hearing that song once. When I finally heard it again at Giants 2006 I was mesmerized during the entire song.

Obviously if I had the choice to swap Born To Follow for something rare, I'd jump at the chance and would love to keep These Days in it.

If I did get Any Other Day (which I have already heard so again, would sooner hear something else) instead of These Days at Slane, I don't think I'd of minded because I was grateful to hear it a week before Slane and it's been 5 years since I heard Any Other Day.

This probably doesn't make any sense :p

Hmmmm.. I don't know about Dry County anymore :p

4 times out of 6 shows I have heard it and it takes up TWO songs. In that time, we could of had a mega rarity haha!

These Days is a song that gets everyone involved whereas Dry County just has everyone standing there.

It's what used to be HDNET until 2012. It "rebranded" I will be looking forward to the broadcast :)

Me too, especially after Cologne. I hope they show the whole thing, and not a select few like Hard Rock Calling.

AXS is a music channel that plays a bunch of different live performances and other music-related programming. That link didn't work for me, but I went to the AXS web site. It says that they will record the 4 artists performing at Hyde Park (Bon Jovi, Elton John, Lionel Richie, and Jennifer Lopez) and then air 6 hours each day on July 13-14.

Competition to win a pair of tickets. Or you could go for Elton John, JLS or Lionel Richtea instead.

ihecsien 06-25-2013 06:13 PM

Hello,

I'm a little worried, I've ordered tickets for the show on BST but I've still not received them.

They send the tickets or we have to withdraw the tickets on place?

thanks! (sorry for my english)

Bounce7800 06-25-2013 06:15 PM

They've been sending them out the last few days in batches, so I wouldn't worry too much unless it gets to Monday/Tuesday next week

My wife chased up on ours yesterday and was told to wait until Tuesday of next week before contacting them again.

It's ridiculous to leave it this late especially for people who are travelling from outside the UK (and even some in the UK). However, it does reduce the risk of touting on ebay etc.

Die Hard 06-25-2013 07:00 PM

This will be my first Bon Jovi-show! Needless to say, I'm looking forward to it.
