Only Lonely
 

2 things. First of all I really enjoy this song, does anyone else think they should attempt playing this live again? It was alright in 2010 and got a nice reception from the crowd. Do you guys like this song, let me know why or why not. I love the melody, it is catchy and doesn't really get old. It is one of those catchy songs for me that I never get sick of. The guitar solo is also pretty good and the riff in the middle. I love the key in how the chorus is sang, it also makes it pretty fun to have most band members sing the 'only lonely' part.

Second of all, in the music video there are some clips where they show Jon with a girl and then he like attacks/pushes a guy. Is that from a movie or something?

I love the song, but there're several others that could be enjoyed not only by the diehards but the casuals too.

My vote is yes, every song should be played live, but I don't think this should be a staple.

Fantastic song, and i'd love to see it live. I really wish they'd kept up playing the old songs on the Circle Tour for more than like seventeen seconds

With regard to the video, its supposed to look like it's clips from a movie, but it isnt actually from any movie

I love it ! Would kill to hear it live , but it prob wont happen .... Im obsessed with the version on the 7800 special edition .... Love when he yells "what?" In an arrogant tone before the song starts . But Richie needs to be there for it . I couldnt deal with phil doing it .

Would love to hear this and hardest part is the night live. Problem was he tested the early stuff witht the usa audience who apart from the die hards don't appreciate it. Should give songs from the first two albums a go in Europe but seeing as though Jon despises 7800 I doubt it will ever happen.

Only Lonely is one of the biggest ones on my bucket list of songs I haven't heard yet. I was so confident I would get it, or at least SOMETHING, in 2010 because I was the 6th show of the Circle Tour. Didn't even get a single song off the first 2 albums, Matt tweeted after the show something about "production issues" being the reason for specifically not including 7800 songs, but that doesn't really make sense to me.

I like the song but cringe at the:

"There's a time bomb ticking in my head,
This time I think she's gonna blow,
How can I say 'Get Away',
When I just can't let it go".

I do think if Only Lonely, Silent Night or Hardest Part of the Night were on Slippery instead of Social Disease or Without Love, they would be played semi-regularly. They had the misfortune of being on an album Jon hates. Shame - they're all good songs.

Only Lonely, Silent Night, Shot Through the Heart, Roulette, Hardest Part, and In and Out of Love would be okay. All of them are among the easiest to sing among the songs from the first two albums. Better if he can do choreo on the first one.

Yes they should play it live. It's a great song. Others from that era which would work well live are Hardest Part of the Night and Secret Dreams + I would love to see them open the encore with Toyko Road.

Sadly I don't see it happening though.....
