The last time the band played this venue was on July 11, 2010. This was the first show after Jon hurt his leg after that disastrous fourth night at the New Meadowlands. Here was the set.

1. Last Man Standing
2. We Weren’t Born To Follow
3. You Give Love A Bad Name
4. Whole Lotta Leavin
5. Born To Be My Baby
6. Superman Tonight
7. Lost Highway
8. It’s My Life
9. I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead
10. We Got It Goin On
11. Bad Medicine with Pretty Woman
12. Lay Your Hands On Me (Richie vox)
13. (you Want To) Make A Memory
14. I’ll Be There For You
15. When We Were Beautiful
16. Runaway
17. Work For The Working Man
18. Who Says You Can’t Go Home
19. Keep The Faith

20. Wanted Dead Or Alive
21. Livin’ On A Prayer

This is a smaller amphitheater, so don't expect the full Buick production. This combined with the absence of Richie, the already vanilla sets, I can only expect more vanilla, though I do hope they pull something nice out of the bag.

Aloha !

I was at the show in 2010, sitting on the lawn. That show was pretty short but we'd just seen the band play a 2 hour and 45 minute show that was one of the worst shows we'd ever seen and compared to this it made the show at SPAC so much more fun. Jon being on so many painkillers helped a lot as well, just a shame he didn't dare to be a bit more risky with the set. He really had fun on stage and it was one of the first shows for me where the band showed that an American show doesn't have to be dull if the band is "on".

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Bounce7800 07-22-2013 12:27 AM

The smaller shows have been shorter but have each had something good to say for them, so hopefully something different will get thrown in the mix as Jon doesn't have to be in stadium pleaser mode.

bjcrazycpa 07-22-2013 01:16 AM

I agree with Seb, from the set list you'd think what a snoozefest but it was actually a really fun show! I was I think 2nd row and a loopy Jon was quite fun!!

milomom 07-22-2013 02:04 AM

I'm a setlist geek to the core, but I agree that vanilla show in 2010 was light years better than the debacle that was the 4th show at what was then New Meadowlands Stadium. Jon was most definitely loopy, but the band came out with such determination. You could feel the "we can do this" attitude. And we'd joked that they should open with Last Man Standing, but I never thought they'd actually DO it! LOL That was a great moment.

bjcrazycpa 07-22-2013 08:10 PM

Matt replied in a Fb status asking about an opening act and said that tonight's show would be the "first of it's kind"...hmm..wonder what that means.

Bon Jovi are actually the support act.

Actually you are on to something there...not Bon Jovi but Kings Of Suburbia..that's the rumor.

bj4ever 07-22-2013 09:14 PM

The Drills would also of been an original way to go.
That's the first thing that came to mind when you mentionned ''first of it's kind''

I was just making stuff up but that would be pretty cool actually.

TwinFan 07-22-2013 09:58 PM

That line made me think that the show will be first of its kind, not necessarily the support act. That said, it could very well be a flat out lie, so who knows.

Matthes 07-22-2013 10:18 PM

Maybe Richie will be the support act and will present his new fashion line together with his blondie. But he will not be able to play the concert because of personal issues. ;)

I can't see that happening.

Sissy3 07-22-2013 11:41 PM

Maybe Bobby is getting a solo gig.

I see Jovi, I see The Kings. I see a party tonight!!!

24Roses 07-23-2013 01:05 AM

Who exactly are The Kings of Suburbia?

They are Jon's backup band when he does solo shows.

Captain_jovi 07-23-2013 01:14 AM

Hm. I think Lorenza is on tour right now with someone else, making me wonder who is actually showing up tonight.

It's such a fine line between this band and the current Bon Jovi lineup, it may be an excuse to do rare cuts ala Ded Flatbird opening up for Def Leppard.

Crushgen24/88 07-23-2013 01:30 AM

To add to the speculative fun, also apparently David Bergman said
"Going to be a very special show tonight. That's all I'm sayin'." On his personal FB a few minutes ago. The Richie people on FB are getting all false-hopey.

Sissy3 07-23-2013 02:00 AM

Wonder why they're jacking this show up so much? Trying to sell last minute tickets?

bj4ever 07-23-2013 02:22 AM

Im not sure how the tickets sold for this but the show tomorrow still has quite a few left

Probably. I just bought a ticket for Thursday this afternoon. I went for cheap, but just for the hell of it I checked every level at MetLife and all still had tickets.

Crushgen24/88 07-23-2013 03:07 AM

Shouldn't the opening act (if that was it) have started by now?

Sissy3 07-23-2013 03:12 AM

According to a tweet, Jon's singing w/ Kings of Surburbia. So will this cut the Jovi part of the show short?

Kind of expected it. What other "Kings" could Matt be talking about? Now, this is actually a pretty peculiar situation. I don't think Jon will want to cut the Bon Jovi show short. I think it just means more Jon for all present. I also think the reason behind this could be Jon promoting his solo band a little bit before the tour comes to an end. Jon knows no rest, and even though we know/hope the band will take a little break, especially given the circumstances, it's very likely that Jon will want to do some one-off shows or whatever to keep himself busy.

Crushgen24/88 07-23-2013 03:33 AM

Any word on what they're playing? Covers?

DryCounty 07-23-2013 03:35 AM

I would not enjoy Jon coming out on stage before the actually show to sing covers with a shit band. For me it would take away some of the magic, maybe that's just me.

Sissy3 07-23-2013 03:38 AM

Maybe he's preparing us for a future of no BJ but only Jon solo shows. ;) I couldn't believe the posts I read by Richie fans, all excited that he might be back tonight. I wanted to reach through the 'puter and thump them in the head and say "get a frickin' clue!" :|

milomom 07-23-2013 03:45 AM

"Special"? That sure isn't the word I'd use for this asinine idea. Jon, if your voice is up for more, how about you just play a nice long JOVI show?! Just a thought - you could include some of those songs that you never bother to play in the U.S. Now THAT would be special!

Un-****ing-believable.

Oh, I'd say it's pretty "special" alright...

I had that same train of thought and even said to a friend, if his voice up for singing with two bands tonight then just do one longer Jovi show.

Becky 07-23-2013 03:54 AM

Maybe Tico and Dave aren't up for an extra-long band show.

They do something different. We don't even know any details at this point and people are already bitching about it. (And that's not aimed at you, Terri. I'm seeing people complaining on other sites too.)

I don't think the band needs to take a break. I think some fans need to take a break. No one HAS to buy a new CD when it's released or go to a show.

And, quite frankly, I don't know why the band is doing so many shows in the NY/NJ area.

LOL Okay, you might be on to something.

With every new development, I'm so glad that I was already too disillusioned before the tour to buy more than one stinkin' ticket. This tour was so well-named. Because We Can . . . do anything and everything we can think of to screw with our fans.

They could do them just a few weeks ago in Europe.

And I know LOTS of former fans who have exercised that right not to go plenty on this tour. I am not alone in my dissatisfaction.

I doubt those are Richie fans (to mention Richie as a missing part of the band is not necessarily to be a Richie fan).... those were more likely optimistic and clueless fans always seeing the glass half full, still thinking Richie is taking care of his mom or something ...
I think Jon is trying to introduce his solo band in a forced way - as you are there you cannot refuse -come on !! Jon twice is better than just the band - it is an understatement - right ?

I also like the "moment" when JBJ takes the stage, fist in the air, and the crowd goes crazy.

I forget and tend to assume that everyone checks boards and forums like I do and know every little thing going on with the band, good or bad. :)

Maybe Tico and Dave want a break. And I never said you were alone in your dissatisfaction--just the opposite. I said I'm seeing bitching and people don't even know the details yet. I honestly don't get why people spend so much time on something that obviously brings them displeasure. If I stop enjoying a TV show, I stop watching it. I don't keep going to the website and bitching about it. No one is trapped into being a Bon Jovi fan. If EVERY FREAKING THING THEY DO is a reason to gripe, it's time to find another interest.

Kazyyy12 07-23-2013 04:12 AM

I don't get why everyone is going insane about this when no one knows the details... Let's wait for some more info before rushing to judgements.

Since I was the one mentioning the break, I wanted to clarify my personal opinion about this. I don't know everybody else's reasons, but I'd want them to take a break simply because I wouldn't want them to burn themselves out. I'm not on the they-should-take-a-break-and-hopefully-wake-up-one-day-and-see-the-light-and-come-back-with-a-better-record-because-since-These-Days-they-all-suck bandwagon. I just really, honestly, genuinely want the best for them, that's all. If they all decide the thing they want to do the most is making another record and going on another tour then, by all means, go for it! I'm as broke as I could be, but I'll manage somehow.
