What Is In Your Vault?

For fun, I'm curious to know what everyone collects.

Concert Tees? Ticket Stubs? Albums (just studio and/or Imports)? Live Concerts (Audio and/or video)? Jon's Movies? Bootlegs? All Of The Above?

Do you keep it separate from all your other stuff?

From 1990 to about 2005, I've collected everything I could get my hand on. Once the internet came about, a lot more became accessible but it also took the fun out of most of it.

There was nothing like going to an independent record store to find an unreleased song as a b-side, ie Love Is War.... You'd pay more for it then you would an actual album but back then, everything they did was so good.

Collecting Bon Jovi stuff is more of a hobby to me now. Some people play golf, others collect coins, I collect Bon Jovi crap. I do keep my stuff separate and will share my list a little later. It's too late tonight but I will go through my vault and provide a more detailed list.

Not everyone's list needs to be detailed but I'm curious to know what some of you collect and what is your top priority?

This is just for fun so please don't start asking people to share anything.

I used to collect BJ shows from the pre 2000 era. Audio only and trying to get EVERY show.

These days era was always a highlight for me. Such epic long shows.

I have a box with old love letters, some trinkets of sentimental value, 2 panties and a bra
I have to stop living in the past and throw some of this stuff out. Oh so many a failed relationships and sexy times had....

I used to keep the ticket stubs of the concerts I went to.
I also bought a programme to every gig I went to until a Skid Row gig in 1991 didnt have one so after that Ive only bought a few since. But none in last 15 years.

I also have a little collection of stuff that Ive caught from the stage when chucked in by the band.

I have a Panetera (Dimebags) plectrum from the Far Beyond Driven tour - the plectrum reads Far Beyond Drunk. I also have the some Wildhearts stuff.

My most bizzare thing is a plastic cup that I caught from Skids Rows Sebastian Bach. I was no where near the front but he got this plastic cup filled with water - took a mothful and threw the cup high into the air - it was heading straight towards me so I caught it!

I agree though that the internet has spoiled things like record fares.

Pretty much all of the above. I keep my tickets, programmes etc...

I also collect a lot of tshirts. I didn't get one from this tour, but I will eventually buy one.

I would say "all of the above".
I haven't been buying much lately because of the crisis and everything, but my attitude is different than, say, ten years ago. Nowadays I would put my efforts into real gems, either rare or somehow important to me. Back then I would buy the first thing with "Bon Jovi" written on it that would get in my sight. No matter what it was, official or not, crap or not. The thing I regret the most was buying a shitload of unofficial XL t-shirts I was never able to wear from eBay. It was much easier back then, because every single buck in my pocket would be spent on Bon Jovi, while of course now it's different.

Anyway... I often daydream about being rich. I would do plenty of things and then, well, I would buy the shit out of every collector website, get every single import, every single rarity, every single edition, every single promo... and of course go to every single concert. Yep, I'm that kind of freak. Unfortunately, that reflects only partially on my actual collection, which I'm still very proud of and which of course is kept separate and protected from everything else. By the way, friends and relatives make fun of me because I always use latex gloves to handle my Bon Jovi stuff. I'm sure I'm not the only one out there? Can you all raise a hand?
As for priorities, I don't really have one. There are a few items I'm very glad I have or I totally long to have, but it's more about how I like them individually than about them being a vinyl rather than a CD, for example. Of course, sometimes rareness plays a big factor in my desire for a certain item.

Warning. Boring not detailed list follows:
Got all the Bon Jovi, Jon and Richie CD albums (most of which in two or more editions) apart from "Tokyo Road" (planning to fix this ASAP, as well as I need to buy David's albums), some CDs (singles, bootlegs, promos), some vinyls and picture discs (albums, singles, promos and even a bootleg!), all the official DVDs, several DVD bootlegs, some MCs (albums and some recorded show from the radio), some of the official box sets, I think I have all of the official VHS tapes, most of Jon's movies either on DVD or VHS (gotta work on that), all of my concert tickets, some tour programs, merchandise of all sorts, quite a shitload of books, even a bigger shitload of magazine cuts (I used to organize them all in binders, decorate them, etc., I absolutely need to pick it up again), guitar tabs, flags, a great number of posters, several official and unofficial calendars, some postcards and stuff like that, wearables of all kinds, a couple of cardboard promotional stands, Jon and Richie dolls... LOL
I also used to download anything and everything from the web and I have a kazillion CDs full of live shows, interviews, what have you... Too bad the quality for streams back then was much lower than it is now, but hey, I feel like they're my cute little gems. As somebody's already mentioned, part of the fun is or was the challenge.

I've probably left out some stuff, but this should give you the picture. If this thread gets somewhere, I might share some more details. But the point is I'm a freak collector who will never get enough of anything. It's like bad medicine! ;)

Or is that sad medicine ha, hey?

I am joking mate, I used to do much of the same but never quite reached that levels. I started liking the band when I was 13-years old, you know as a teenager obsession was kind of easy to me, so I collected plenty of stuff, but never went really deep.

When I was about 22 (7 years ago) I realized what I actually like about the band is the music, just the music. I sold all of my stuff including the albums (which I had on iTunes by then or I guess WMP I was using back then) and now own the boxset with just 3 CDs in my wardrobe.

When it comes to Bon Jovi, just the CDs/DVDs plus a couple of T-shirts and bootleg DVDs etc.

The band I collect everything for is Arctic Monkeys. Posters, promotional CDs, magazines, vinyls, t-shirts, flyers etc.

can I ask what does a tour program contain?

Whatever happened to the other two discs in your boxset? :o

I started when I was 12, so I know where you come from. I guess that's why I would buy pretty much anything without thinking it through first. LOL

It really depends. But it's usually a lot of incredibly great-looking, eye-catching, engaging nothings. :p
It's usually HQ pictures, lyric quotes or other kind of quotes, tour dates, tour personnel, etc....
