Song called Mona Lisa?
 

Hi,

I found a CD on ebay that was supposedly given to a record executive. It only has two songs on it: "Breathe" and one called "Mona Lisa." I've heard "Breathe," but I've never heard of "Mona Lisa" before. I asked the seller to provide a sample of the song and he sent me this:

I posted this sample on the Topix forum too, but nobody responded...
He says that the bad quality is due to him recording his CD player with his computer mic.

I've definitely never heard this song, but it sounds like Bon Jovi to me. Do you guys think this is legit?

Never heard that before, but it definitely is Jon singing. No idea where the song is from, but it could be a Bounce outtake. If it was published on a Bon Jovi album, I'm sure it would've said Bon Jovi/Child/Carlsson.

So, yeah, seems legit.

And yeah, it's a Bounce era outtake. The font used on the disc is the same as for Have A Nice Day though. Bit odd.

What do you call "stupid amounts"? I remember a similar CD with the then unreleased Kidnap An Angel on it going for about $70-80 about 10 years ago.....

I hope you are right! Though sadly I think it's more likely to be someone who found it lying around in their home or office and figured they'd make a few $$$$

Someone should ask the seller to give us a sample of the chorus.

Or to sell us a copy of the song for a 10 dollar flat rate. I've done that before. If someone else wins this, there is a good chance that none of here will ever get hear this.

We have 4 days to work this out. I would suggest contacting the seller and tell him we are interested in the song so if someone else wins, we'll pay for a copy. Even if it's MP3, I'd rather have something than nothing,

I'd be interested in a "group" buy - suggest someone with a burner take the lead - burn and send copies to the buyers when their part is paid (would have to pay for blank cd and shipping of course) I'd like to have a copy not just a download myself. Has JT ever done anything like this before? I have it saved to my ebay but can't go crazy money. Since this is not released I would think burning a copy for "private" use should not be an issue? It is on ebay after all. But, I guess we should check and see if copyright is listed for this one like it is for example WAN. If anyone has time and beats me to checking please post.

Can everyone willing to contribute post the absolute maximum they are willing to pay for a FLAC/WAV/MP3 (whichever floats your boat) of the track? I'm happy to do the actual bidding (although I will check if it going to end in the middle of the night UK time) and distribute accordingly.

As for the actual CD itself-any suggestions? Either the person who donates the most or a lottery draw perhaps? I'm not bothered about it personally...just the song!

I just messaged the seller and asked if he'd sell me a copy of the disc (on the side) - we'll see if he gets back to me.

Someone is gonna' pay huge coin for this CD - even as a group we might not be able to pool enough together to be win the auction. I guess just lay low and slap our money down at the last second and hope it's enough.

It's been a long while since ANYTHING cool has popped up in the collecting world, Ebay is mostly fake crap and fake promos from hong kong and brazil where the record presses went for scrap metal prices when the legit plants went under.

This is the kind of item collectors live for, I intend to bid very strongly and win :)
Besides with the Not-Jovi's touring the legacy into the grave, I doubt much more fun stuff will turn up as the overall value of of collectibles drops.

It might go for $500+ if the seller gives assurances that he won't make or sell copies. Perhaps even more than $1000.

Hardly ever post anymore, the travesty tribute band touring now leaves me uninspired and the problems that prevent Internet Explorer from posting to this board are too much hassle to deal with.

I just want the song for my collection. I'll probably listen to it twice and then forget about it. I already listened to the 45 second intro a bunch of times and feel like I know the song already.

10 bucks is a lot for an MP3, 5 is more appropriate but I will be a team player and kick in whatever extra is needed. So far we got about 10 people in so at 5 bucks per person, that brings us to 50 bucks. 10 = 100.

I really think the seller would sell a side copy for a decent amount. 20 bucks lets say. That is the better avenue to take. It will piss me off if we all spend 10 bucks on this thing and then find it on YouTube a week later.

I guess you could count me in for 99 cents. It's a cool thing, but I don't wanna shell out $10 for something that I won't get the physical copy of and will end up on YouTube very shortly anyway.
