October 2, 2013 Vancouver Canada Rogers Arena

Five hours before show time and this thread didn't exist, so here it is.

Interest in these shows without Richie and Tico is very limited, and the setlist is likely to show why.

The last time the (proper) band played Vancouver was at the same venue in March 26th 2011.

Set on that night was very good;

Last Man Standing
You Give Love a Bad Name
Born to Be My Baby
We Weren't Born to Follow
Lost Highway
Whole Lot of Leavin'
It's My Life
Runaway
Raise Your Hands
We Got It Goin' On
Bad Medicine / Hot Legs
Lay Your Hands on Me
(Richie Sambora on vocals)
(You Want to) Make a Memory
Living in Sin / Chapel of Love
Squeeze Box
(The Who cover)
Someday I'll Be Saturday Night
Who Says You Can't Go Home
Captain Crash & the Beauty Queen From Mars
Work for the Working Man
Have a Nice Day
Keep the Faith

Encore:
Something to Believe In
Wanted Dead or Alive
These Days
Livin' on a Prayer

So T is officially still out? Any word on his return date?

I guess that this is the biggest question on my mind too. I hope he is improving and feeling better at least.

I've heard October, 9th as the date for his return; but I don't know where that date came from so I wouldn't completely trust it.

I'm going to this show. Unfortunately, the last two shows here were pretty damn good,so even if I try I'll probably end up comparing. Not to mention that the man that influenced me to play guitar won't be there (and Tico too, from the sounds of it). Nonetheless, I will go with an open mind. A couple rarities would be nice, but I'm not holding my breath for them.

If anything interesting happens, will post about it when I get back.

Panda 10-03-2013 03:48 AM

I had loose plans to possibly go to this show with bonjovi821. So glad those didn't go through.

Aww damn, so all hope of Something To Believe In/These Days is gone.

Yeah. Like that one time I predicted both songs and they were both played. Yep. Me and my banners that I organized with this other girl. Worked a charm.

Also very glad.

LeaJovi 10-03-2013 05:18 AM

So.. showtime? :D

Javier 10-03-2013 05:41 AM

Phil posted a pic on facebook of his guitar "reflecting on Tico's kick Drumhead"

But Rich is probably using Tico's setup so I wouldn't read too much into it....

Christina 10-03-2013 05:54 AM

I went to the one on March 26th. Was debating about whether or not to go to this one too kinda glad I didn't but will be interesting to see what those who went to the last one will think of this one. Hope that made as much sense as it did in my head

kleman 10-03-2013 08:39 AM

I heard that THICK OF THIEVES was played......

MJB12 10-03-2013 08:45 AM

It is a Bruce Springsteen song written in 1977 but
but studio version was not released til few years
ago on Promise Boxset though live version was released
on Live75-85 album

ezearis 10-03-2013 09:19 AM

Nice that a new song was played, hope they'll give Pictures of You a try.

The Northern Cowboy 10-03-2013 09:28 AM

Just got back. Thick As Thieves acoustic. Shitty audience; disappointing encore.

Interesting, why acoustic, Jon? I want to see a video.

ezearis 10-03-2013 09:42 AM

I don't know, must be Canada-speak for something.

Can we get a Canadian to confirm?

Yes, Fire was done as well after Thick as Thieves.

I have a video of Thick As Thieves, though I don't know if I'll get to uploading it tonight.

Bummed out to see Always as an audible. Was really hoping they'd squeeze that one in after Prayer.

It's My Life was dedicated to a kid named Kaden. Can't remember why. I'm not sure about "sing lick", but if memory serves correctly Phil, David and Bobby sang along with the guitar lick in That's What the Water Made Me. Not sure if that's a normal thing but it stuck out to me.

Also, has Lorenza Ponce been with them this entire tour? She was there tonight doing the Lost Highway stuff and Who Says You Can't Go Home.

Nope, the "sing lick" thing is new to my knowledge, and Lorenza has not been with them.

Nope, she's currently touring with The Eagles. This is what she tweeted yesterday:

Lorenza Ponce ‏@lorenzaponce 11h
I played a private party last night in Vancouver with JBJ & Bobby so I'll be sitting in with Bon Jovi tonight. Looking forward.

Dave88 10-03-2013 10:32 AM

And here's the story about Kaden:

Here is the latest from Bon Jovi.com updated 2nd October. Just that he still not well and will be back in the near future.

I would have loved to hear Thick As Thieves. I love that song.

bjcrazycpa 10-03-2013 02:02 PM

Glad to see Thieves in there, acoustic or not. Shame the audience was lame. I've done the Vancouver shows a few times and usually they are a top notch crowd.

Is it surprising the audience wasn't into it?

No Richie. No Tico. Shitty setlist.

ticos_stick 10-03-2013 03:23 PM

I can't see Tico being back for this tour at all. Being hunched over behind a drum kit for three hours just isn't going to work until he's fully healed. Then I'm guessing he'll need to get his fitness sorted again. They should really just cancel the rest of the tour..

No...they shouldn't "just cancel the rest of tour".

Jon knows that 90% of bj fans think that BON JOVI is Jon, so no matter what, they will still fill the biggest arenas specially in America.....in Europe not so easy....

It's not Bon Jovi in it's current form so they should cancel. Some cookie cutter review from a local website changes nothing.

Yes, because that review is so spot-on:

"after opening cut What The Water Gave Me"

" mature ’90s pop rock era of Keep The Faith and Cross Road (and later Crush and Bounce)"

They ain't filling them with me. It was a struggle going to see the band without Richie. Without Tico, forget it.
