I feel like the setlist is slowly improving, it only needs a few changes to make it quite good IMO. I know that a post like this pops up every 5 mins but this would be my take on improving this set.

1. THAT’S WHAT THE WATER MADE ME
2. YOU GIVE LOVE A BAD NAME
3. RAISE YOUR HANDS
4. RUNAWAY
5. LOST HIGHWAY
6. IN THESE ARMS
7. IT’S MY LIFE
8. BECAUSE WE CAN
9. WHAT ABOUT NOW
10. LAY YOUR HANDS ON ME
11. KEEP THE FAITH
12. AMEN
13. BED OF ROSES
14. SOMETHING FOR THE PAIN (ACOUSTIC)
15. THICK AS THIEVES (ACOUSTIC)
16. BLOOD ON BLOOD (FIRST VERSE ACOUSTIC)
17. WE WEREN’T BORN TO FOLLOW
18. WHO SAYS YOU CAN’T GO HOME
19. I’LL SLEEP WHEN I’M DEAD W/ JUMPIN JACK FLASH & START ME UP
20. BAD MEDICINE

21. I’M WITH YOU
22. SOMEDAY I’LL BE SATURDAY NIGHT
23. WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE
24. HAVE A NICE DAY
25. LIVIN’ ON A PRAYER

The only song on that setlist that Phil hasn't played is Something For The Pain, which i'm sure he or Bobby could easily pick up.

Long time lurker, first time poster. Attended the show last night and thought I would offer my thoughts on it.

The band went on an hour late, at least according to the time given on the tickets. Tickets said 7:30 but the show didn't start until 8:30. They may have gone on late to accommodate all those who were stuck in the awful traffic around the arena. As far as the the crowd was concerned, it looked like every seat was filled that I could see. I don't know how many of those seats were actually paid for though.

As for the show itself, I enjoyed it. Basic set list but still fun nonetheless. Jon was on cruise control throughout the night but not annoyingly so. He did start to have some vocal issues towards the end, which probably accounts for the way Prayer sounded. The rest of the band was in top form, Tico looked especially happy to be back playing. Phil X looked like he was having the time of his life on stage. I missed seeing Richie up there, but Phil showed more energy and excitement up on stage than I remember from Richie the last time I saw them.

I went with a friend who is the very definition of a casual fan, i.e. just knows the hits. He ended up enjoying the show immensely and actually expressed interest in listening to the entire Jovi catalog. He's also the only one I know who's not a die-hard and owns a copy of TLFR. All in all, it was a good show. I think it was money well spent.

I remember a time where we'd all be posting and clogging up the servers when a gig was going on. Now the set posted in full is the first post....how times change

Can't see the video but Gabriel put a thumbs down icon on his post so I think he was being sarcastic calling it "wonderful".

You're not missing anything special. Vocals were really off.

And who's going to sing the bridge in place of Richie?

It's not going to be played ever again unless he comes back.

Your tickets may have said 7:30 but that's so everyone gets there before they hit the stage.

For this entire tour, apart from festival shows, the have come on stage between 8:15 and 8:30.... so they weren't late.

Rated_R_Ron 10-11-2013 01:12 AM

Since LA tomorrow night is a repeat market on this tour (They played here back in April), I'm wondering if we'll see some more variation in the set list?
With few exceptions this Anaheim set list is pretty much the same as they played in LA 6 months ago.

Makes sense, thanks for the info! Haven't really been paying attention to the other stops on the tour.

Panda 10-11-2013 01:14 AM

Yeah they'll play "Dry County" and be treated with something like "Superman Tonight".

They played "Dry County" and "Always" last time they played in LA and those two are considered rarities.
How about "These Days"?! :shocked!:

danfan 10-11-2013 02:34 AM

I wonder if they even bother printing up the set list anymore. Can't imagine why they'd waste the paper.

MJB12 10-11-2013 04:14 AM

If they played this exact same setlist in Chicago on the 23rd, I will still see 4 songs I've never seen before. I'm hoping to at least get 2 different WAN songs (Amen and Thick as Thieves are both ones I've never seen). I've also somehow managed to never see Captain Crash or In These Arms live, so those both are fine in my book too.

Captmorgs 10-11-2013 04:44 AM

In These Arms:

He's skipping lines everywhere. WTF?

WillRunForChocolate 10-11-2013 04:54 AM

Maybe I'm imagining it, but doesn't it sound like Tico's playing a bit fast? Jon sounded out of breath to me.

These Days was written on the LA set last time (not as an audible, as the closer) and was scratched off with Sharpie and replaced with Treat Her Right.

If they do These Days this time, when I'm not in LA, I'll be upset. Happy for those there, but upset.

A bit?! He's zooming through it and Jon sounds stupid singing at a different speed.... that was hard to watch.

I'm a guy and this is something a chick would probably say, but
I will die if they play "These Days". It's my all-time fave Jovi song and nothing will be better than hearing it live, but I'm not holding my breath on this actually happening.

Will also be happy to hear "In These Arms" and..... (run 'n hide) Captain Crash!

I'm also a guy and I completely agree with your feeling. I got to hear These Days from the front row in Dublin last tour and it was one of the highlights of my whole time as a Bon Jovi fan. Also got to see Richie do it last year from the front row at his solo show.

And I will defend you wanting to hear Captain Crash. I like that song.

Tico's battery has been changed and now he drums ITA like he did back in 1992, hehe...

Wow, Jon is really struggeling. He is so focucsed on just hitting the right notes that there is like zero passion in that performance. Shame :(

gabriele 10-11-2013 01:52 PM

Jon's voice in this tour is terrible.
Only a few good performance in 70 dates.

Wow - Sometimes I think these boards get nit picky but this SUCKS and this is my all time favorite Bon Jovi. He is struggling so bad and this is not a hard song to sing.

David's backup vocals have more words than the lead singer. He should have just let David sing it. NASTY. Glad I was not there watching him stand there with his eyes shut trying to sing this

This tour has won the prize of the worst Bon Jovi tour, even regarding Jon's vocals, something that I could not expect since we had the Bounce tour, which was mediocre when it's about vocals.

Huh?
I'm not saying it's the most difficult song ever, but it has quite a few demanding high notes, especially in the 2nd half of the song.
Also the choruses and bridge are pretty high as well. Add this to the fact that Jon is in rough vocal shape in general and it ain't pretty.

Performances like this one are the reason I rarely listen to recent performances any more. A singer's voice is supposed to sound good. Jon, in many cases, just sounds painful to my ear these days. It's come to a point where I actually find this more funny than sad. That ITA performance is hilarious. Tico pounding on and Jon desparately trying to catch up with him. At the same time it is sad to see what this band has become.

rolo_tomachi 10-11-2013 04:35 PM

It is not as hard as many others and he used to be able to belt it out with ease running around interacting. He is acting like it is Always, standing there, eyes close ,visibly struggling hanging on to the microphone for dear life.

If your voice is that shot give it to David to sing for crying out loud.

This was horrible. Ever since they downtuned the song from E to D, Jon used to sing this with ease. Now, he is constantly out of breath, out of time and out of key.

Unless something like 2008 happens again and Jon regains some strength on his vocals, the setlists are bound to goo downhill for the next tours. Captain Crash, Sleep, Born to Follow, Lost Highway are examples of songs that are staples because they're very easy for Jon to sing.

I guess that songs like I Believe, Damned, Something to Believe In will never see the light of day again.

Supersonic 10-11-2013 06:24 PM

It doesn't have any demanding high notes, it's just Jon who makes it sound and look like it's demanding. A good singer should be able to cover it with ease. It's just that Jon is a below average singer nowadays.

His vocals were not bad at all during all the Bounce tour. The promo shows and the first US leg were very good, there are some performances of Keep The Faith and Saturday Night that were mind-blowing. Everything started to go downhill halfway through the European leg, reaching a new low during the HAND tour.
