October 11, 2013 - Staples Center, Los Angeles, CA
So I guess this show is going on right now. I was originally going to go to this show (and the 2 previous ones) but common sense prevailed and I'm quite glad I didn't spend any money on this clusterfcuk.
I'll edit in the setlist when it becomes available because nobody else seems to do this, and dammit I am a good OP. EDIT 2: Here's the updated setlist as per Rated_R_Ron That's What the Water Made Me You Give Love a Bad Name Raise Your Hands Runaway Lost Highway Whole Lot of Leavin' It's My Life Because We Can What About Now We Got It Goin' On Keep the Faith Amen Someday I'll Be Saturday Night (Acoustic) Thick As Thieves (Acoustic) Make A Memory Born To Be My Baby We Weren't Born to Follow Who Says You Can't Go Home I'll Sleep When I'm Dead (with Rockin' All Over The World, Jumpin' Jack Flash & Start Me Up) Bad Medicine (with Shout) In These Arms Wanted Dead Or Alive Have a Nice Day Livin' on a Prayer Always |
There is a setlist up on setlist.fm, dunno how accurate it is, and there are a few songs missing.

*Please note: Setlist Not Official but a logical assumption based on past setlists and formats, and the fact that I am a HUGE Bon Jovi fan. Feel free to make edits based on actual information. |

Heard that Rockin All Over The World was played too. If it was part of a medley or on it's own, I don't know.

Wow the servers must have been seriously clogged up last night. Because no one has written a damn thing....how times change
|
Hmm. They did working man at the last LA show, I guess Jon must really want people in Los Angeles to hear that song. And I really dread to hear what Always sounded like.
All in all, way too similar to the last LA show in general. Glad I didn't waste the money and time. |
Just got back from the show. I may be missing something, but I'm pretty sure this is correct:
That's What the Water Made Me You Give Love a Bad Name Raise Your Hands Runaway Lost Highway Whole Lot of Leavin' It's My Life Because We Can What About Now We Got It Goin' On Keep the Faith Amen Someday I'll Be Saturday Night (Acoustic) Thick As Thieves (Acoustic) Make A Memory Born To Be My Baby We Weren't Born to Follow Who Says You Can't Go Home I'll Sleep When I'm Dead (with Rockin' All Over The World, Jumpin' Jack Flash & Start Me Up) Bad Medicine (with Shout) In These Arms Wanted Dead Or Alive Have a Nice Day Livin' on a Prayer Always Some thoughts and review a little later... |
So yeah, a little under 6 months ago I saw Bon Jovi live at Staples Center and tonight felt very much like a re-run, and just like any re-run it's a little less exciting the 2nd time around.
Even if I was a casual fan who attended both shows but wasn't on this board or knew what to expect, I'd be pretty surprised at how similar the 2 shows were. 95% the same set list, same performance, same energy, same stage production, same banter... I know it's still the "Because We Can" tour, but a little variation would be nice. I wonder if Jon looks up the previous set list to see what they played the last time and even attempts to change it up? Why not use a different opener? different main set closer? move around some stuff? Whatever. So yeah, not much to say, set list aside I did enjoy the show, I like a lot of the new stuff so I have no problem with hearing it over the 80's tunes. It was great to have Tico back, he was in great spirits, put on a great performance. No one would ever think the man had been through multiple surgeries recently. Tico seems to have lost a bunch of weight and Jon indeed called him a "skinny SOB". "Saturday Night" acoustic was nice, "Thick As Thieves" I found to be very boring live, "Make A Memory" still lacks energy and doesn't really work live and is almost sleep inducing, same goes for "Amen" but I thought the crowd reaction was pretty good for that one. I can't believe I didn't get "Captain Crash"!! Damn!! I'm the only person on earth who actually LOVES this song, and I was sure I was gonna hear it this time, but no such luck. "In These Arms" was the first encore and surprisingly got very little response from the crowd when it started and ended. I thought it was a favorite for many people and that everyone would love it, but that didn't seem to be the case. Before "Wanted" Jon asked everyone to turn on their phone cameras and share this moment together. It was quite a sight. Like the good ol' days but with phone lights instead of lighters. After "Prayer" they did the thank you's and the bow and it seemed to be over, but then Jon signaled to the band "let's do one more" and they did "Always", don't know if it was an audible or not, but don't they usually do the bow after the final encore and then leave the stage? They were selling a new Tour Book with lots of shots from the European stadium tour, it's 99% pics of Jon, Tico and David, but interestingly there's one full page of Richie pics, but it's just that one page and he's nowhere to be found in the rest of the book. There's also 1 pic of Phil with the rest of the band taking a bow. Anyway, that's it for this live report. I'm ready for a break from live Bon Jovi and they need this break too. |
Thx for the review . Glad you sorta enjoyed it again . Its just ****ing lazy and selfish of Jon not to mix it up a bit .

Thanks for the great review. And yes, they sometimes do the "one more?" routine after final bows, and it has usually been Always.

They seem to have settled on this setlist for this leg give or take one or two, which is a pity. |

Someone can scan that page? |

So is this the same day/night Richie was round the corner flogging his knickers? And wtf is Jon doing to Bobby in that picture pmsl

Yes and this performance was totally unexpected
I think that the second chorus (especially for 'love yooooooouuu' part) was very good. |

Also, who is doing the backing vocals? |
