Bon Jovi not nominated for HoF this year

Big surprise.

LL Cool J was though, so there's always that.

Nirvana was nominated. I'd bet my next paycheck they get in for no other reason than Kurt Cobain is dead.

Right. It's like they were popular or influential when he was still alive.

Also, it'd be the worst of all possible times to introduce BJ into the Hall Of Fame, so it's rather just they're not nominated.

What? just for that reason?. They changed the music scene in the nineties. Remember the grunge movement?.

I'm so sick of these Cobain comments. I know you dislike them/him and stuff but you could just keep them to yourself. They are totally disrespectful and annoying. In the end, nobody knows what would have been if.

As about Bon Jovi being nominated - would have been a good occasion to get all 5 original member back together. And even if they SUCK, they are once again the biggest band in the world (Cause the world is stupid and AC/DC doesn't tour). So even in this lousy state they are in, they still deserve to be included. The fact that they are not nominated - AGAIN - is yet another proof of how ridiculous that institution is. Eventually it will lose all it's credibility.

And for the record - to be on a list with...

- the Scorpions
- Judas Priest
- Iron Maiden
- Motorhead
- Kiss
(eligible for years yet ignored every year) ...is a much better place to be.

And Bon Jovi changed the music scene in the late 80's.

I'm not saying it's "just for that reason", and this is for you too Devil. I may not have worded that correctly. I'm just saying, if they did nothing else, they'll get in because of Cobain's death.

Hey, I liked Nirvana. Not sure where where anyone got the idea that I didn't. I wasn't a mega-fan and I think Cobain couldn't sing live worth a damn, but there's no doubting their talent and influence. Everyone make a big deal about Nevermind, yet In Utero was their masterpiece. But influence, as far as the HoF is concerned, means nothing. The simple fact that KISS (though finally nominated this year) isn't in there yet proves that.

Considering the acts they let in and the ones they don't, the Hall of Fame is a joke. I have a friend in Ohio who keeps telling me that I should come visit when Bon Jovi are inducted into the Hall of Fame. She honestly believes it's just a matter of time and she's not even a fan. I keep telling her it's not going to happen. No matter how you feel about Bon Jovi, when you look at what they've accomplished, it's lunacy that they're not in something that calls itself the "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame."

This is the second nomination for Kiss - they were on the ballot in 2010 but didn't make it.
This is the first year Nirvana was eligible to be nominated as their first release was 88.

First time nominees:

" Nirvana, Peter Gabriel, Hall and Oates, the Replacements, Linda Ronstadt, Link Wray, Cat Stevens, Yes and the Zombies. (Gabriel was inducted as a member of Genesis in 2009.)" Rollingstone

Do not make me laugh. They just enjoyed commercial success, they did not mark a trend as Nirvana.

Nirvana created a subgenre, grunge.

Bon Jovi was considered a fashion band in the late eighties.

I love Bon Jovi, but the impact on society and the music of Nirvana is more important than Bon Jovi's achievements in those years.

however, Bon Jovi should be in the hall of fame, they have an achievement. MTV Unplugged was inspired by Jon & Richie in 1989 with this performance:

After this performance, MTV Unplugged begins;

R.E.M

Eric Clapton

Paul McCartney

Nirvana

Pearl Jam

Metallica

Neil Young

Sting
