OMFG. Once he started, he must have regretted attempting to sing this song. Does the vocal quality of other singers vary this much from show to show?

Not when you have a solid, dependable singing technique.
Seems to me Jon just goes out there and hopes for the best and doesn't have a clue what he's doing.

If Jon wasn't so lazy, they could come up with a acoustic version for this song, dropping the key just like they did with In These Arms during the These Days Tour. This would suit Jon's current range and would not sound so terrible.

I would be happy with that.

Damn, that's a good idea! But can we still have Phil whip out a couple blazin' solos at the end, just for fun?

I'd take the current strangled cat versions over the TLFR versions that were played at the end of the HAND tour.

Since 10 minutes ago I would have agreed, but now after watching that video I gotta reconsider. That's by far and beyond the most awful Always I ever heard!!!

I want neither. I will never want a TLFR version of ANY song and the strangled cat version is painful. It's time for him to realize he just can't do it justice anymore and it's time to retire it. If he takes the time to work with a vocal coach and can get some of his technique and range back then being it back.

One of my favorites and it hurts to listen to it. I forced myself to keep listening, they upped David volume to try and cover the high notes. So sad...

They've been upping David in the mix more and more, he's a lot louder this leg than he was the previous few shows. David is no longer just covering Richie's parts, he's also covering the parts Jon can't sing anymore.

I'm not talking about the TLFR version. I'm talking about that version of In These Arms that they played during the TD tour. The dropped the key a whole step down, and it sounded good. The same could be done with Always.
