Not expecting anything too special, especially since there was a show last night too. But hopefully they will at least do a couple different songs for Chicagoland fans who went to the last show. Will update this post with the new setlist when I get back from the show.

JoviJovi 10-24-2013 12:18 AM

I wouldn't get my hopes too high, but normally the 2nd show of back to back shows is the better one.

Don't you mean back to back in the same place?

Hope so for you, but that wasn't the case for Los Angeles. Hell, even back to back shows at Met Life had only one maybe two song changes.

KathleenV 10-24-2013 12:57 AM

Well, I'm sorry I missed Green Bay and will miss this one. Maybe I'll see some youtube videos, until they come around again.

Keep on Rockin' in a Free World!"

It seems the 2nd of back to back shows in separate cities has had a shorter setlist.

To be honest, I'm fine with whatever because to me, any Bon Jovi show is better than no Bon Jovi show. Especially with the long week I've had, I'm really looking forward to tonight.

There are still many songs they could play tonight that I haven't seen yet that have been played somewhat recently. This will be my 5th show and I have yet to see In These Arms, Always, Captain Crash, Amen, What's Left of Me..all of those would be something different for me.

And compare that to the back-to-back shows in Dublin last tour. 12 songs performed the second night that weren't done the first night, if I recall.

I don't mind the song at all and having never seen it, it would be a welcome change. But it hasn't been played in several shows so even that may be out.

It's funny how different the feeling is actually being at the show and seeing all the fans around you. Makes all the setlist nonsense seem so small and unimportant. These people are just here to have a good time. As am I.

MJB12 10-24-2013 03:47 AM

Also may have missed it but how long has Bobby been upgraded to the front of the stage? His stuff is set up in Hughie's old spot and not in the back next to David.

Enjoy it! First Chicago show I've missed in awhile.

Absolutely. I feel the same way. Yes I might like to hear some different songs played, but I love dancing and singing along and meeting other fans. It's like a big party.

Great show. Jon said early on "we gotta hit the 3 hour mark" so my hopes kinda got set really high. It was really nice to see 4 songs I hadn't seen live before - Radio, Captain Crash (yes I was excited to see it), Amen, and Diamond Ring (although I don't care for it). Really was hoping I'd finally get to see In These Arms or Always. But nofdice. The covers in Sleep were Jumpin Jack Flash, Taking Care of Business, and Start Me Up, and Old Time Rick n Roll was done during Bad Medicine. The first encore really confused me when they started with Wanted. Working Man...eh, its whatever. It was something different but never would have been my first choice. I'll Be There For You totally should have not been played. Awkward placement and I feel like that song just needs a break.

I figured it was noteworthy to mention that everyone around me was singing along to Whole Lot of Leaving like crazy. I've always liked the song but did not realize it was that popular. Also I just have to mention again how much I love That's What the Water Made Me. So happy they didn't choose a different opener tonight. However, acoustic Saturday Night is such a buzzkill. I love the electric version so much, it's one of my all time favorite and was really looking forward to shouting out the chorus, especially since I've had a rough couple weeks. Oh well, not a big deal.

That's all for now. Great show, I'm glad I was able to catch it. Especially being on a really exhausting business trip it was a nice time for my day off.

Javier 10-24-2013 08:23 AM

Good to hear it was a good show! I'm just now noticing how much of the show Jon is playing his acoustic on. That's averaging like, 85% of the show these days right???

CKatz 10-24-2013 08:30 AM

0$ tickets for this show to fill seats...Ouch.

I counted 14/26 (not including Prayer intro) plus 2 electric

Yeah, that's 16 where he plays guitar, 1 in maracas where he stays glued to the mic stand and then Amen where he does the same to be all dramatic and such. Guess that's why it seems like a lot from the outside looking in....

Since the 1st show of this leg in Vancouver. I've noticed it from some Youtube videos and I don't like it at all...

WFTWM....brutal. 26 songs was nice (he should always play that many minimum). I thought for sure Chi-town would get (like Capt Morgs said) Always, ITA & Blood, or atleast 2 of those.

I'd be okay if he played more electric. Youtube videos will probably prove otherwise but I thought his vocals sounded really good. Probably the best sounding KTF I've seen in person

Always was incredibly painful to watch (and listen to) in Lincoln three nights before this show. Jon said words to the effect of "we'll reach for it." He even sang a portion lower than normal. There may be a video on YouTube. That said, overall it was a very nice show and sounds like Chicago was as well.

Panda 10-24-2013 08:55 PM

He didn't sing it lower, he just sung it really badly. :P

OMFG. Once he started, he must have regretted attempting to sing this song. Does the vocal quality of other singers vary this much from show to show? That was miles away from the Nashville performance earlier this year (also notice how his hands are not clutching the mic for dear life the entire time; he looks far more comfortable; at 4:38 he actually seems happy with himself):

MJB12 10-25-2013 03:32 AM

Oh yeah, forgot about WGIGO. So 27 songs total.

Have to mention, I understand them wanting to go for a stripped down look and not use the video content, but I think it would have enhanced the show. Especially having been to Chicago 3 months ago with Sofia. The pillars behind the stage looked completely out of place aside from WGIGO.

Not when you have a solid, dependable singing technique.
Seems to me Jon just goes out there and hopes for the best and doesn't have a clue what he's doing.

If Jon wasn't so lazy, they could come up with a acoustic version for this song, dropping the key just like they did with In These Arms during the These Days Tour. This would suit Jon's current range and would not sound so terrible.

I would be happy with that.

Damn, that's a good idea! But can we still have Phil whip out a couple blazin' solos at the end, just for fun?

I'd take the current strangled cat versions over the TLFR versions that were played at the end of the HAND tour.

Since 10 minutes ago I would have agreed, but now after watching that video I gotta reconsider. That's by far and beyond the most awful Always I ever heard!!!

I want neither. I will never want a TLFR version of ANY song and the strangled cat version is painful. It's time for him to realize he just can't do it justice anymore and it's time to retire it. If he takes the time to work with a vocal coach and can get some of his technique and range back then being it back.

One of my favorites and it hurts to listen to it. I forced myself to keep listening, they upped David volume to try and cover the high notes. So sad...

They've been upping David in the mix more and more, he's a lot louder this leg than he was the previous few shows. David is no longer just covering Richie's parts, he's also covering the parts Jon can't sing anymore.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

I'm not talking about the TLFR version. I'm talking about that version of In These Arms that they played during the TD tour. The dropped the key a whole step down, and it sounded good. The same could be done with Always.
