A "special" surprise oooooooo ;)

wolffex 10-29-2013 04:09 AM

I know. They did mention they will be hanging a banner in the arena, I doubt that is really the surprise because everyone knows about the banner since it was posted in the newspapers and facebook so it has to be something else...

- Richie's return? Alec? A guest? A surprise appearance?
- An album in his entirety? Unlikely but who knows
- Filming of a live dvd/audio? Maybe
- Some setlist surprises

Other than that I can't really think of anything else

The last "special" show they had - they brought out the Kings Of Suburbia!

Javier 10-29-2013 03:02 PM

They will have a runway where Richie will walk out strutting his stuff and modeling his new outfit during 'Bad Medicine'

And singing his new solo song 'Pump Up The Jam With The Fabric'

rolo_tomachi 10-29-2013 03:49 PM

17th show at the Air Canada Centre??? a celebration something strange, the 15th or 20th. is more appropriate. It's another tactic to sell more tickets, then will be disappointing.

It's a record, doesn't matter if it is in increments of 5. What's disappointing is your continuous slagging.

Vomit . Please no

wolffex 10-31-2013 06:39 AM

Yes but that show was just another show, this one is the 17th in the building and Bon Jovi usually plays good setlists here. They had a one week break, that is probably more than enough for Phil X to learn one, maybe two songs that might not have been played in a while

rolo_tomachi 10-31-2013 04:31 PM

maybe record a new video of the next single, Amen.

Captain_jovi 10-31-2013 04:44 PM

I really hope not for two reasons. 1) I'm not going to the show 2) I genuinely love the song and would hate if they wasted a live video on it. Two live videos in a row could not be more lazy.

Side question, when (more like if) they make another video from What About Now would Phil be in it or do you think it'd be Jon alone?

Javier 10-31-2013 06:15 PM

If it's Amen, I wouldn't imagine a song more perfect for a Jon solo video than that one. But, It's really unlikely another video/single from WAN will be released, this cycle ends in December and I would be surprised if Jon and the band weren't waiting anxiously for it to be over....

Yes exactly. They're not going to spend the money to make a new video for an already failed album. They're going to move on.

Add me to the list of people that have been to the other 15 shows at the ACC and skipping these 2. The last 2 were dreadful.

I see your point but I sincerely hope that something wonderful happens and you regret missing out. ;)

There's nothing that could happen that could make up for the $1000 spent on those 2 shows plus what it would cost to go tonight and/or tomorrow.

Trust me, I wont regret it.

Captain_jovi 11-01-2013 03:42 PM

Same. I'm of the minority that really liked the last two shows but only because the seats were too cheap for me to care. If I had paid full price and floor seats I might have a different opinion.

I look at it more like...it'll be the same set as the last two shows with a very very similar setlist and even if we get something somewhat rare it'll be played by Bobby and Phil with a singer that stands totally still. With the cost of getting there, getting back, the tickets themselves I'm just so meh on the whole idea. I hate that I'm missing shows but also hate that they're not offering anything different enough for the diehards to WANT to go.

Exactly. I didn't mind the last 2 shows in February but my friend and I were disappointed when we realized a few songs into show #2 that the set list was pretty much gonna be the same as the night before (and we had seats thru the fan club so that was a pricey re-run on night 2!) It kills me that tonight would've been my 10th concert, but at least I can hope that when my 10th does roll around, it'll feature the full band and a different (hopefully) set list.

I highlighted the above part like the above poster because that part is so true. When I went to Manchester, I got 'Garageland' and a couple of others I didn't expect/hadn't heard before. I thoroughly enjoyed that show because the 'band' seemed on form. Jon was on fire that night, Tico and Phil X did a very good job and the setlist was different to other shows.

Then came Slane and Hyde Park and apart from 'Loves The Only Rule' they were just basic shows. Enjoyable, but I left a bit 'meh' after them.

All it takes is one or two changes and we seem a bit more into it. The last thread proves that. The others hardly had any replies but with the odd change that a few of us like, we do reply and want to check them out.

Captain_jovi 11-02-2013 12:38 AM

But Toronto is spoiled. We've gotten a whole WHACK of rarities. Garageland, I get a Rush, Miss Fourth of July, Damned (Twice), Wild is the Wind, list goes on and on. I was really shocked the last two shows didn't get much.

LOL, I was thinking it was odd that almost all the posts on this page of the thread are from Hamilton peeps! Are you drowning your sorrows like I am tonight? About to embark on a red wine fuelled carb fest courtesy of Chicago Style pizza with the husband, lol. He just loves the food...I'm wishing I was at the show!

I'm drowning my sorrows emotionally haha but a little booze might help. I'm kind of wishing I caved and went.

I'm totally having 2nd thoughts on attending tomorrow night's show. Fortunately my credit card is maxed out and whatever's in the bank is already allocated to bills, etc, so I'm stuck here. My husband, god bless 'em, offered to buy me a ticket for tomorrow night, but it just wouldn't be the same without RS and with a high possibility of a crap set list. Might have to eat another plate of pasta tomorrow night to get thru, lol.

Captain_jovi 11-02-2013 02:07 AM

Wound up making a bunch of mac and cheese so that'll have to do I guess! Show should be starting in a little bit.

micro cuts 11-02-2013 10:27 AM

The stage setup for this leg of the tour seems like it doesn't have big projection columns. Is there any change in production?

no projectors this time around.
in feb. I bought cheap tickets because I couldn't be bothered....so I didn't see any of the production.
Then, I caved and got tickets for next friday facing the stage because the production seemed amazing.
Now I'm left with tickets I can't sell to a production-less show.
I know I should be going for the music, but at this stage, seeing them so many times, every bit of extra counts.
Anyways, I only hope I finally get something relatively rare played. I misses the whole circle tour, which got good sets in montreal, but since then, nada.

Captain_jovi 11-02-2013 02:42 PM

Man, that's disappointing. The only way I could have afforded to go was cheap seats, now I'm kind of glad I didn't get behind the stage seats.

wolffex 11-02-2013 10:03 PM

the stage was almost the same as the one they used last time, only difference was there was no screens and the other stuff on the back of the stage where they do the pretty effects and stuff. In a way it was a good thing since I had seats behind the stage and got a very clear view.

I have my camera tonight so and a nice seat in row 1 so I will be able to capture the banner being raised without anything obstructing my view
