Would be nice to get something out of the ordinary .... Or maybe Jonny is saving the best for Oz ;) . Optimistic !

This would be nice. Still haven't heard it live.

Captain_jovi 11-09-2013 04:52 AM

My buddy is there now. So far he's mentioned (in no order with a lot missing in between) Bad Name, Raise your hands, Memory, Saturday night (acoustic), Amen.

Captain_jovi 11-09-2013 04:59 AM

"One change so far...added Runaway three songs in...sigh

Everything right down to the talking parts is word for word the exact same...it's a bit sad.

And now they're covering Great Balls Of Fire again..."

He saw both Toronto shows.

Captain_jovi 11-09-2013 05:34 AM

"The way Jon is talking right now...it doesn't sound good...dragged on quite differently...

"David, Tico, Myself...and Alec and Richie - we want to thank you for everything you've given us for the last 30 years..."

Just the way he said "let's share in a moment like this...we won't have another like this one" and the mood of the band...it's extremely bittersweet...

I think I might be at the last NA show this band does..."

I'm glad I didn't go to Montreal tonight.

Captain_jovi 11-09-2013 05:37 AM

" It was before Wanted. As if it was the last time they were playing it. You could tell Jon was having a hard time playing through it. When they finished the song, he took a long long long time before he said anything"

Well that's depressing. What about all the shows where he has said they aren't going anywhere?

JoviJovi 11-09-2013 05:49 AM

There's no way Jon would let the money of a farewell tour slip through the cracks.

Captain_jovi 11-09-2013 05:53 AM

Agreed. But if they truly wanted to end it all it'd be way classy to go out like this.

Captain_jovi 11-09-2013 06:03 AM

3rd encore: never say goodbye

Really .... Or are u taking the piss :(

Captain_jovi 11-09-2013 06:16 AM

Naw, I don't make up setlist stuff. He intro'd it with "Let's see if I remember this one. Feels fitting for tonight". I can confirm it wasn't on the setlist nor an audible.

The Rock 11-09-2013 06:36 AM

I heard that Phil sang a song and yep NSG was sang.

Captain_jovi 11-09-2013 06:37 AM

Looks like he sang Taking care of business in the covers medley.

bj4ever 11-09-2013 07:06 AM

just got back at the hotel.
here goes.
I didn't read this board or watched youtube for a couple of months before my show.

highlights
I got diamond ring for the first time!
part of NSG (only my 2nd time)
always! 2nd time and 1st in 12 years!

some lady jumped on jon for a kiss during memory, and from then on, he was on fire.
Seriously, I hadn't seem him like that in a while. No leaning on the stand during born to be my baby. very energetic. someone threw a flag of his younger face on stage, he wore it, then signed it for the girl who threw it.
sleep medley was great, got an excellent reaction and wasnt expecting that at all.

lowlights
i was hoping for dry county to start the encore, but got CC
after NSG they played I love this town, so I just had to laugh about it.
no projections, just the light show.

Overall, I had fun. The crowds in MTL are always extra loud and into it.
the show really picked up once he got kissed by that girl. I def. saw the frontman that made me fall in love with live shows.
the ticket was worth it for his performance of BTBMB, the medley AND that 4 seconds when the drum kicks in on LOAP is just plain crazy and kicks my ass every single time I see it at this venue.

I've also realized youtube and this board has ruined live shows for me. If I had been on here leading up to the show, like I usually am, I prob. wouldn't have had as much fun.
h
And i'm pretty sure this wasn't the last north american show. He was just telling people to capture this very special moment so they can treasure it later, or show their bosses or whatever. Anyways, that's just my take on it.

You are right. I just saw that David, Phil and Bobby sang in the medley.

Band Picture from Montreal. Sorry, don't know how to post pictures.

Sentimental people falling for that bullshit. It's been done like that for years now. A "dramatic pause" to pretend there's some deeper meaning to the applause they're getting after Wanted. I can't believe after 10 years of predictable and cheesy speeches people actually believe anything sincere or heartfelt will come out of Jon's mouth.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

rolo_tomachi 11-09-2013 03:15 PM

Last time? I do not understand, on November 20, playing in Philadelphia.

A little harsh, but exactly right. He does this every night: the speech before Wanted, soaking up the applause at the end. It's the schtick.

I can't believe I went to Europe with the hope of hearing NSG, not hear it and see they play the song at a show less than 2 hours from me.

That being said, I'm still glad I didn't go to Montreal last night.

Your first sentence kinda makes me wonder about the truthfulness of the second one :D

It's twisted logic, I know. But I don't think that one song would have "saved" the show for me.

Captmorgs 11-10-2013 01:56 AM

Never Say Goodbye:

He should do the whole song every night, just JBJ and his acoustic guitar. Much easier than Always.

Captain.Crash 11-10-2013 06:23 AM

Reminds me of when i saw Bryan Adams and he ended the show with a 2nd encore singing Straight From the Heart alone with just a guitar.

Been hoping for something like this for years... just to obvious for the CEO, Hear the crowd? Such a shame.

you'd be surprised.
For a long time, I'd come on here and criticize the sets and the lack of change, etc.
but yesterday, I finally understood how actually being there has nothing to do with a set on paper or youtube videos.
I can't quite explain why, but I usually get to relive my fav. live moments on youtube, but there's something about the atmosphere I witness everytime in MTL that videos never quite capture.
For example, yesterday, 20 minutes before showtime, people stood up to clap and sing to the song on the PA....

The sheer power of certains songs in a live setting of that sort gets me every time.
But then again, people sitting behind their computers must obviously know better.

Anyways, I guess I've simply outgrown this website, which I've been following for over 12 years. Only recently have I realized that reading the constant negativity has ruined bon jovi for me.

Yesterday, I saw a band on fire and no setlist on paper or videos can do justice to what I witnessed (mostly the 2nd half).
Have I seen better BJ shows? hell yeah, but this morning, I woke up and my ears were still ringing from the crowd last night.

Like I've said before, in my tiny review of the show. I had a blast, and I'm sure that the fact I didn't watch any youtube videos, read any setlists or followed this board beforehand helped alot.

Here's the medley with TCB by Phil X:

Javier 11-10-2013 07:16 PM

That was awesome!! Very energetic, like someone said in another thread, if Jon is 'on' the band will follow. If we could get this Jon and this band more often with a few changes and rarities in set lists here and there, people wouldn't be complaining as much.....

Jonty 11-10-2013 07:40 PM

the more i see Phil X, the more i like him!!! Having great fun again and great to see him having a wee personal singing part!! Amusing watching him when he is not at the mic, he sings practically every word of each song!! Clearly loving his role!

Woah, all the musicians sing better than the singer himself.

True.
Jon's vocals were awful on his cover, and it's an easy song to sing.

I don't think I'd believe it if you'd show me this pic in 2003 that this would be the band 10 years later.
