Jon's Charity Work

This is a little old, if someone did bring this up somewhere and I'm a buffoon for posting this, apologies.

http://www.nj.com/indulge/index.ssf/...of_camden.html

Jon is helping open a homeless "hotel" in Camden, NJ. Now look, I've tended to side with people who think Jon's work is at times phony and a way to promote him or the band, or his importance. But honestly, we're well removed from the time of HAND when he was doing a lot of interviews about this stuff. Frankly no one cares about this, as far as I know it didn't really get press outside of local southern NJ papers.

So it impresses me. Because honestly it is a practical thing that helps in a city that really needs it. Camden is not, by any means, a sexy problem to tackle. I got my undergrad degree there, it is honestly as bad as Detroit in most respects, but not nearly as popularized (not saying Detroit really gets the help it needs either). There's really no obvious solution to a city so screwed up, so really just offering some immediate support for lives is a very real thing to offer. So it's pretty cool and honestly I respect Jon a lot for helping it happen. It makes me think that, the lame "we can" aside, he really does care. You don't get any medals for helping anything along in Camden, NJ.

Despite the fact that I think he partly does it for his ego, I think it is great and more people should do it. He doesn't only invest money, but also a lot of time and work which is admirable. Esspecially if you think of all his smaller projects and the one you just mentioned.

I mean, how many people from here who are constantly bitching about Jon work voluntarily??? I doubt there are many here who actually work to without getting paid and this really bothers me.

Are you talking about Jon working without pay? If so I think it is pretty easy to answer why he does and people here donīt.

However, I am one of those who believes most of his charity work is from a noble place. There are obviously times when he does something for the publicity, but he is a public figure. A lot of things he does are small scale with no real reward other than doing it and maybe a handshake here and there.

.

Yes, he is rich and people here are not and Jon has the luxury to create his own time-table but working voluntarily is not a full-time job.

I had heard about it but didn't know exactly what Joseph's house was so thank you for posting the article.

He'd better start working on his vocals. And not this bullshit.

Let's be real, Jon Bon Jovi the artist/musician, even just fading entertainer, is dead. I kind of would be happier if he just ended up buying the Bills and leaving music for good. Put the band out of its misery.

Correct. The man I see on stage/ in interviews today has nothing to do with the man I used to admire as a song-writer, frontman and singer. Not even the teeth are the same. He should just call it quits and focus on his non-musical career. He doesn't seem to be too bad at it.
