Concert Thread - 7th December 2013 - Etihad Stadium, Melbourne, Australia
Australian leg kicks off tomorrow.
Last time the band played here, was the night after a killer performance at Rod Laver Arena and they were all noticeably knackered. Jon himself was having trouble staying awake by the end of the show. They were all snapped drinking at The Lounge on Collins St late into the night which may explain why the last Etihad show was fairly average. Plus we were sitting next to utter bogans.... middle aged drunken idiots who kept arguing and shouting things like "I don't know this one but I don't care cause it's Bon Jovi"... Anyway the setlist was; Blood on Blood We Weren't Born to Follow You Give Love a Bad Name Born to Be My Baby Lost Highway Whole Lot of Leavin' When We Were Beautiful Runaway It's My Life No Apologies We Got It Goin' On Keep the Faith Bad Medicine (with Roadhouse Blues and Shout) Lay Your Hands on Me (Richie Sambora on lead vocals) (You Want to) Make a Memory Diamond Ring I'll Be There for You I'll Sleep When I'm Dead (with Start Me Up) Raise Your Hands Have a Nice Day Who Says You Can't Go Home Livin' on a Prayer Encore: Always Wanted Dead or Alive Someday I'll Be Saturday Night (with Jon rubbing his eyes trying to wake up) By the way, for all you stalkers out there - it would seem they are staying at The Crown. Phil X uploaded this photo from what is likely his hotel room. That couldn't be from anywhere other than the Crown Casino and Hotel. http://www.crownmelbourne.com.au/hotels http://instagram.com/p/hjvxCxwin9/ |
Do you have any idea what the attendance will be for the two shows?
|
Can't wait!
My ticket says the show starts at 5.45pm - is this right, or do gates open at that time? Last time they were on about 8pm? |

6.00pm – Local act (Saturday: Angie McMahon & Sunday: Jessie Teinaki) 6.30pm – Kid Rock After 8.00pm – Bon Jovi |

Not so sure about the Sunday show - trying to sell 110 000 tickets in one city at the price they are asking is a hard task for any band.... but there ought to be at least another 35 000 - 40 000. |

I'm here in Melb! Ready for my second show of the year. Was a little put off the whole trip cos of Richie, but after the great fun I had in New Jersey I'm quite excited.
I won't be going in expecting the greatest vocals/setlist. It should be a great night though! Just seeing the Sofia stage in action is a spectacle in itself. Bring on tonight! Then tomorrow night! Then Perth! (Which will be my first Jovi arena show). Have a blast, everyone going tonight! |

Kid Rock is just finishing his last song... He sounds surprisingly good!

Just back :) It was a great show... No real surprised though. The first half up until Sleep was full of highs and lows... The highs obviously being Bad Name, It's My Life, Keep The Faith, We Got It Going On and Born to Be My Baby (which went surprisingly really well with the crowd... More so than one would expect... Though could be because it was after the lull of Memory).
From what I can remember... 1. That's What The Water Made Me 2. You Give Love A Bad Name 3. Raise Your Hands 4. Lost Highway 5. Whole Lot of Leaving 6. It's My Life 7. Because We Can 8. What About Now 9. We Got Got It Going On 10. Keep The Faith 11. Make a Memory 12. Captain Crash 13. Born to Be My Baby 14. We Weren't Born To Follow 15. Who Says You Can't Go Home 16. I'll Sleep When I'm Dead - Jumpin Jack Flash - Great Balls of Fire (Dave) - Run Run Rudolph 17. Bad Medicine - Shout 18. In These Arms 19. Runaway 20. Wanted Dead or Alive 21. Have A Nice Day 22. Livin' on Prayer The show went for two and a half hours. From Ill Sleep When I'm Dead onward, the band and crowd were alive non stop. It's just a shame that that level can't be kept through out the first half of the show. Because We Can builds towards the end but it's too flat at the start... It would work better if it wasn't followed by What About Now. The biggest lull in the set was Born to Follow and Memory. They really shouldn't do Because We Can/What About Now and Lost Highway/Whole Lot Of Leaving back to back. Was surprised Memory was the only ballad. No Always, I'll be there For You, Diamond Ring, Amen or Bed of Roses. As for Jon's vocals... He must've been I'll in Japan cos he was back to his usual self. Didn't sound bad at all (as far as Jon goes). He did pretty well tonight, mainly in the second half. And now the highlights... - Keep The Faith - do I need to say more? - I'll Sleep When I'm Dead Medley - amazing! Great Balls of Fir with Dave on vocals was crazy good! Really lifted the energy. Probably the best part of my night. Run Run Rudolph was a nice surprise. - Bad Medicine/Shout - bah! So much fun. I was 100% certain they weren't gonna do it. My mum even turned to me when Jon did the break in the song and was like "is it shout :D" and I replied with "nah, they don't do it as often as they use to"... Then when Jon busted out with "you know you make me wanna..." I started jumping around like a mad man haha. - Born to be my Baby - was surprised at how much the crowd enjoyed this one. A few people who were sitting down thanks to memory quickly jumped up and started waving about. - Runaway - was great as usual. The bunch of young blokes behind me went crazy for it, as well as In These Arms. I was hoping for Always but Jon was spent. I was actually scared he was gonna pass out after Bad Medicine/Sleep. He did good tonight. My only quarrels with the night... 1) the ups and downs of the first half of the set. 2) Jon being a word behind on several occasions at the start of a verse or chorus. It really put me off my singing haha. 3) no Always/Roses/I'll Be There For You. Overall a great show with a standard setlist. Can't wait for tomorrow night. |
Apparantly he is still sick. Has had the flu since before Japan.
|
Seriously…. WTF is wrong with Jon??
These set lists are CRAP! I have tickets to see the arena show in Sydney and the last show of the tour in Brisbane and I'm going to be disappointed if I get this kinda rubbish. The last show I saw was night 3 in Sydney back in 2010 and that was amazing! Why can't Jon realise that NO ONE wants to hear Make a Memory ever again! 4 songs from Lost Highway is a joke! Like he often says 'I've got more hits than a prize fighter…' why doesn't he f***in play them! Clearly his voice is shot and he only wants to sing the recent songs written in lower keys that they can tune down even lower in concert! Im usually a very loyal fan, particularly of Jon however if he doesn't lift his game to what we all know he can do I won't be keeping my faith! Rant over! Steve |

Bad Medicine:
I hope he *is* still sick, that is so out of key that it hurts :-( |

Omg completely out of key! He is singing one-two semitones down the rest of the band. He knew that he will have voice problems before the show (he's ill, right?), so why they didn't played it for example one more semitone down? Better lame than this. It's like a bad karaoke.
I hope there is no footage from HAND, because it will reaaaally hurt! |
Sure doesn't sound like he has a cold or the flu here. The cold/flu/allergies excuse is really lame.

Jesus christ ! Its the worst he has ever sounded . Ever . You can not expect people to pay for that crap . Im ashamed to be a Bon Jovi fan .
|
Most surprising is the number of times he's a step behind the rest of the band (and the crowd that's singing along).

I remember Meatloaf sang at a football game in melbourne a few years back and was beyond out of breath and out of key and was heckled and the media had a field day saying how bad it was ect ect . It was terrible and funny even . This is up there with that !
|
Nobody is as sick as Jon supposedly is. This is just flat-out awful voice. It's sad, really.
