Concert Thread - 8th December 2013 - Etihad Stadium, Melbourne, Australia
That's What the Water Made Me
You Give Love a Bad Name Raise Your Hands Lost Highway Whole Lot of Leavin' It's My Life Because We Can What About Now We Got It Goin' On Keep the Faith Amen Someday I'll Be Saturday Night Diamond Ring (You Want to) Make a Memory Captain Crash & the Beauty Queen From Mars Born to Be My Baby We Weren't Born to Follow Who Says You Can't Go Home I'll Sleep When I'm Dead (w/ Start Me Up, Wipe Out, You Shook Me All Night Long - Phil X Lead Vocal) Bad Medicine (w/ Shout) Encore: Dry County Wanted Dead or Alive Have a Nice Day I Love This Town These Days Livin' on a Prayer Night two in Melbourne. Not sure how this one will go.... This is likely to be far from a sell out and we all know that can put our dear leader in a bit of a mood. Could be a 21 song set, but then being two nights in the same venue we *may* get some kind of treat. |
In my seat :)
Far from a sellout. Kid Rock has about 2 songs left... He really aggrevates me. |
Kid Rock just finishing up.
He sang Born Free with Nelson Mandela on the screens. Side note - there are two attractive blondes in front of me who are in desparate need of some deodorant... My eyes can't make sense of what my nose is smelling. |
I'd be really interested to know the size of the crowd for Sunday's show.
Have they put curtains up for the upper stands? How is the atmosphere? |
It's actually filling up quite well now. The second tier on the right hand side is the only noticeably empty area (bout 60% full)... The rest of the place looks pretty decent 80-90% full from my judgement.
5 mins til show time. |
Better crowd than I expected. I imagine there will be alot of repeat customers. I was looking at Ticketmaster this afternoon and it appeared the upper stands were closed for the concert. Have a good show. I'll be seeing both shows in Sydney and can't wait.

Quite a full crowd!
Same set so far... Except Amen is on now instead of Memory. Jon on circle. Vocals same as last night. Energ is great though. Nervous for Amen. |

Full band on the circle, Bobby on instead of Richie... Saturday night acoustic.

Diamond Ring
|
Bah! And he still plays memory! Love this song but not live!
|
Captain Crash, Born to be my Baby
|
Born to Follow, Jon's reported to be a semitone out during BTBMB.
|
Jon struggled with BTBMB but crowd are it up.

thanx !!! man

Right now is when I'd be pretty pissed off if I went last night and not tonight [not at either]..but why such a difference in the set lists only a night apart??...and that's a rhetorical question...just putting my angst out there.

I considered going tonight as well as last night, but figured the set would be nearly identical and there was no point.
Well this sucks  |

Still not the best setlist, really. Sounds like a very boring middle with 4 songs on the circle? 'Dry County' has been played to death now. Always welcome 'These Days' in a set, though...

Prayer to end. So much fun!

1. That's What The Water Made Me
2. You Give Love A Bad Name 3. Raise Your Hands 4. Lost Highway 5. Whole Lot of Leaving 6. It's My Life 7. Because We Can 8. What About Now 9. We Got Got It Going On 10. Keep The Faith 11. Amen 12. Someday I'll Be Saturday Night (acoustic) 13. Diamond Ring 14. Make a Memory 15. Captain Crash 16. Born to Be My Baby 17. We Weren't Born To Follow 18. Who Says You Can't Go Home 19. I'll Sleep When I'm Dead - Start Me Up - Wipe Out - Shook Me All Night Long (Phil X) 20. Bad Medicine - Shout 21. Dry County 22. Wanted Dead or Alive 23. Have A Nice Day 24. I Love This Town 25. These Days 26. Livin' on Prayer Ah was a fun night! I did notice Jon struggling tonight with his vocals, especially during Bad Name, Born To be My Baby, Dry County and These Days. Prayer was a bit of a struggle too... BUT! The energy was there from Jon. He was obviously having a good time, throwing in I Love This Town as a "change of plans". Again though, the real fun and energy didn't really kick off until Sleep a when I'm Dead medley (with of course the exception of Faith, IML and Bad Name). I had a blast and so glad I went to both nights. I'm guessing Perth will be a more standard set list but I'll have a heap of fun. The night is what you make it. If you're gonna be a boring ass and sit there the whole night you're not gonna have a good time. Forget the setlist, forget the vocals, get taken over by the music and have an awesome time! |
Oh, and there were a lot more people than I expected. By show time it looked at least 90% full. And the crowd sounded louder than last night (not sue if it was cos of where I was sitting - though last night I was in the A section on the floor and tonight I was tier 3 $35 tickets up back.
|
I'm looking forward and scared at the same time for the "These Days" video to surface, you just know it won't sound pretty.

Having gone to both the Melbourne shows, I was relieved that some different songs were pulled out tonight.
First impressions were bad when the opener was the same, and Jon was out of time and out of breath by Bad Name. Before It's My Life Jon asked who had attended yesterday and stated they had lots of different songs for us, but then proceeded to play the same setlist for another 5 songs until they played Amen. Amen, SIBSN (accoustic), Diamond Ring and MaM completely put the crowd to sleep, but I was pleased to hear DR for the first time. SWID finally got the crowd going again, and Phil launching into ACDC/s You Shook Me All Night Long got one of the biggest responses of the night. Everyone loved it and they would be fools not to play more ACDC on the rest of the tour. I was hoping for a good encore and was pleasantly surprised to hear Dry County and These Days. I Love this Town seemed to be a last minute addition, although to me it sounded strange, almost like Phil was playing the chords to WSYCGH and Jon was signing over the top of them. Maybe it was just me or the sound mix wasn't quite right. Unfortunately for the most part Jon sounded terrible. He barely sang KTF, was terrible on BTBMB and squawked his way horribly through TD and DC. The Youtube videos will not be pretty viewing as someone mentioned. But the crowd seemed to enjoy it, and overall so did I. |
