December 14th, 2013 - ANZ Stadium - Sydney, Australia
My first show of the tour! Although the setlists haven't been as great as I would like I'm still pretty pumped.
This is the first time Bon Jovi have played ANZ Stadium. It has a capacity of 83,500 and does not seem to be anywhere near sold out. The last time the band played in Sydney was on the 19th of December, 2010. They did three shows to end The Circle Tour, with the 2nd and 3rd shows having pretty good setlists. The setlist from the 19/12/2010 was: 1. RAISE YOUR HANDS 2. YOU GIVE LOVE A BAD NAME 3. BORN TO BE MY BABY 4. WE WEREN’T BORN TO FOLLOW 5. I BELIEVE 6. THORN IN MY SIDE 7. BLAZE OF GLORY 8. IT’S MY LIFE 9. NO APOLOGIES 10. WE GOT IT GOIN’ ON 11. CAPTAIN CRASH AND THE BEAUTY QUEEN FROM MARS 12. BAD MEDICINE W/ ROADHOUSE BLUES 13. LAY YOUR HANDS ON ME – RICHIE ON LEAD VOCALS 14. HALLELUJAH 15. WHAT DO YOU GOT 16. (MAMA’S GOT A) SQUEEZEBOX 17. LOVE FOR SALE 18. SOMETHING TO BELIEVE IN 19. HAPPY NOW 20. SOMEDAY I’LL BE SATURDAY NIGHT 21. I LOVE THIS TOWN 22. KEEP THE FAITH 23. DRY COUNTY 24. WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE 25. LIVIN’ ON A PRAYER 26. THESE DAYS |
That was the greatest show of the tour ! It pelted with rain but they played on . No one cared .... Sensational .
|
Yep, that Sydney show was the greatest. Still to this day I cant believe that I managed to hear I Believe. I thought I was in for 0% chance of hearing it.
I think this show will be a standard set list with one or two nice surprises. Probably These Days and possible Please Come Home For Christmas. Hope you have a great time Mike! |

Thinking positive . Tomorrow night will be better than 2010 . Anyone here in the pit ?
|
Due to the configuration the capacity for tonight is 60,000. If they pulled in 50,000 for Adelaide it should be easy to get a full house in Sydney. I will be shocked if there are any empty seats, despite many still available on Ticketek. There will be a last minute rush on tickets. The same thing happened on night 3 of the SFS show in 2010 (which was the best concert I have ever seen). I am in diamond for tonight.

Even with his decent voice in 2010, Jon still opted for Run Run Rudolph, so I think that's all you can expect. Anyway, I hope I'm wrong (I'm not), have a great show! |

Kid rock is like a pub band . Pretty average . Gonna be full tonight .

A friend posted a pic on FB of Kid Rock performing and looked like there was hardly anyone there yet.

Most people seem to arrive ten minutes before Jovi take to the stage. I have a friend there tonight, in the fourth row. Lucky gal! |

In Adelaide a lot of the people doing VIP packages didn't get there till very close either. |
I figured most would be there closer to show time. I would hate to be out there performing with hardly anyone to perform too.
|
Is anyone getting any updates ...

Very dissapointng.I thought playing a big stadium would get us a 3 hour show..Nothing new in set list..I think the boys just want to go home..The tour is over we are just getting the leftovers.
|
Jon got his goal, the number one tour, now, he does not have to prove anything to their fans. They simply smile.
|
I just got home and I will disagree with what has been said. This was the 7th time I've seen the boys and this was an amazing show. Sure the Setlist had no surprises, bar old time rock and roll, but the energy was through the roof. I think it was clear that Jon was saving himself for tomorrow nite. I did find it strange that there was no mention of tomorrow nights show. Regardless, I think tomorrow will be even better (Setlist wise) !!!!!
P.s. Sleep when I'm dead + Medley was the most fun ive ever had a a jovi gig!! Great show, can't wait for tomorrow!!!!!! |
For a band with a 30 year catalog, the highlight of the show should not be a cover medley.
|
Yeah the medley was very cool tho ..... Oh and the was NO blaze .

That setlist, what a disgrace. Even not having been there I know it sucked.
Less medley, more BJ please. |

QUICK REVIEW; This was a very good concert. The atmosphere was electric - much better than I had been expecting. Obviously, as a die hard, I would have loved to have had some rarities in there but there is no denying that performance wise and in terms if the crowd, last night was exactly what a rock concert should be. Also, the sound was, again, much better than I thought it would be given the size of the stadium. Jon was pretty clear throughout the night and his vocals held up well with no noticeable squeaks or duff ups. The only mistake was the solo of It's My Life never happened - Phil X's talk box mic set up didn't work for some reason. Whole Lot of Leaving. A song I like and despite the fashion on this board to dis it, it went down well and the break after 'Do we got it anymore?' produced one of the loudest cheers of the night. I like it on cd and it enjoy it live. Was good to get Diamond Ring but Richie is missed hugely when they play it. The medley was certainly fun but I don't see what peoples problem with it is. Depends on your taste whether or not this is the 'show highlight'. Jon was not static at the mic at all. He was bouncing around and strutting all night - and made use of the ramp round the pit. Basically it was a solid show - the noise produced by the crowd after Prayer was monstrous and I was really surprised they didn't do one more. The entire band ran down the strairs pretty quickly after they bowed and left Jon to look at the audience... He kind of looked like he regretted letting the band leave the stage and realised he should have done another.... Hopefully he held back for tonight's show. |

Hope we get a good number 8! |
Last night was my 17th Bon Jovi concert. I would say that it was 'good'. Jon seemed to be struggling with his voice and was static on the high note songs. He was straining and seemed to be a millisecond off beat in the higher pitch songs. Not having Richie there is a definite downer(unless you're female and all you care about is Jon's ass)
Was also expecting that this being the first full bon jovi concert at an 80,000 seat former Olympic stadium in Australia's biggest city, that the setlist would have been London, Milan, Munich, Giants stadium style(it was last time they came to Sydney) That aside, Jon did try hard and the last hour was better than the rest. Just disappointed that the main set list has moved more towards middle of the road rock. Livin in Sin, Blood on Blood, Always, Bed of Roses? All Bon Jovi concerts should have either Always or Bed of Roses...at a minimum. Anyways, hoping for a better night two. |
