I wondered a few times where you had been Kuba.

Sorry to hear the upsetting news. But it is truly an inspirational story and I wish you and your family nothing but the best for the future ahead.

Thank you for sharing.

Sending you my best wishes from Greece. I'm really proud for reading this topic as it really touched my heart, truly inspirational as already people mentioned.

I don't know what exactly to wish to you for the future, but may 2014 be full of health for you and your family and especially for Alice!

My heart goes out to you Kuba. I currently teach in an additional support needs school which has a few kids with Downs and although I can't become close to feeling what it must be like, I do appreciate the challenges you and your family will face in the future.

As long as you stay strong for each other you'll get through it.

Wow Kuba! That is quite a story you wrote there. I had to add it to my bookmarks to allow myself to read it when I had more time. Now, after I just finished it, I cannot help getting a feeling of satisfaction.
I strongly believe that the people who come across certain challenges in life are the people who can handle them once they work together, find each other and to put it in Richies words: walk beside you.
The song in my mind when reading your story was 'If I should fall behind' from Springsteen and also 'My Beautiful Reward'.
I believe strongly in magic in the world and try to see some in every day. Sometimes I do, sometimes I do not. Based on your story I see you found our magic in a challenge you were given and that is what humanity is capable of if people would feel as one again and try to make life better, not only for themselves but also for others.
I for one am always trying to think and see what I could do to help others, let others appreciate me/themselves more which eventually leads to giving me a better feeling as well.

Back to you. It was a big read but totally worth it. Thank you for sharing. I wish you and your ladies a wonderful time together where you, as family, may grow stronger to eachother.

I salute you Kuba,
Thunderstrucker

Attitudes have changed a lot these days, lots of people with downs syndrome get jobs, move into their own places and get married etc.

That was a very long and emotional read, thanks for sharing. Having also become a (first-time though) father last year, I feel with you and wish you and your family all the best in the world!

BTW, amazing cover version and what a great voice your wife has! And If you're only half as good at writing songs like your are at telling stories, then please keep doin' it!

All the best (and a happy new year of course) from Berlin, and next time there's a (J)BJ/Richie concert here, I'd be happy to meet you. Seems that besides Richie here in Berlin in 2012, we both have been to the BJ concert in Paris in 2010 - how small the world sometimes is these days ;-)

EDIT: oh, btw, I've tweeted the link of the cover video (with the link to this thread) to Richie, it's probably not going to get his attention, but maybe it will after all, who knows :-)

Thank you all for kind words and wishes. They say what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, and since we all still breathe…well…“We’ve got each other and that’s a lot for love…we’ll give it a shot” :)
