I'm interviewing Richie tomorrow.. wanna help?
 

Hey everyone,

I'm interviewing Richie Sambora tomorrow for Fasterlouder, an Australian rock music website. It's a 30 minute phone chat so there's plenty of time to talk. So the question is.. what should we talk about? My style of interviewing is hard-hitting and provocative, so the 'tougher' the question, the better.

I'd like to know his honest thoughts on What About Now and ask how big his involvement was.

How hard is it to get a Bon Jovi writing credit? Did you feel like you contributed to Wanted Dead or Alive and Who Says You Can't Go Home equally?

Some fans have theorized that you haven't been as involved with the last few Bon Jovi records, in particular What About Now. If this is true, do you like the direction the band has headed? And if not, what direction would you take the band?

If there is a future for Bon Jovi, where would you like to take the band? Is there a specific sound you'd like to explore or would you feel comfortable rewriting It's My Life for the 11th time?

When We Weren't Born to Follow was released, fans were outraged by the lack of the "Sambora presence", so much so that you went back in the studio to record a solo for that song. Was it your decision, originally, not to include a solo?

You were excited about the release of Aftermath, and it was rumored that you were going to get to play a track from it on the What About Now tour. You only played one song on your short lived role on that tour and you played I'll Be There For You. What happened?

10 years ago, Bon Jovi sorted through their vault and released a box set. Do you have a vault of unreleased recorded material, and if so, roughly how many tracks and can fans ever expect to hear these songs?

You left in the middle of Bon Jovi's last tour with a short notice, some hours actually. Why did you quit so suddenly? Why not with a longer notice? If it was about spending time with your daughter, why didn't you said it instead of saying that it was a "personal matter" and avoiding the questions about it.

Ask him why he didn't refuse to go on tour from the start?

How long does he think the band need a break from albums and touring as they've had a lot of output in since 2005?

I would like to know if the are any plans to release a new solo record in 2014. Thanks :)

Has he been writing any new songs and does he have any plans on doing a new solo album in the near future? Any themes or song titles he can reveal or talk about yet? :)

Any plans on doing more solo shows in Europe or else where?

He went through a really tough time a few years ago with his divorce, his dad's death, addiction problems...what kept him going and what keeps him going today? What motivates him and gets him out of bed in the morning? And has his outlook on life changed? What about relationships?

When he left the Bon Jovi tour in April, did it surprise him or shock him how hostile and unforgiving a lot of fans turned out to be? Especially since no one knew his reasons?

During the Bon Jovi tour, he hardly got any solos or they were cut short, he only sang "I'll Be There For You" once. Yet Phil X got minute to two minute long guitar solos, he got to sing solo several times...Thoughts? Did he follow what was going on on the tour after he left? Did he and Jon talk?

What are his future goals? What would he like to have the most right now?

His mom broke her hip last summer...how is she doing now?

And for us girls...

Is he still single? He wrote Sugar Daddy about being emotionally unavailable. Does that still apply or would he like to have a real relationship? What does he look for in a woman? Does he have a "type"? LOL!

If he does go back to his day job does he think Bon Jovi have another "Slippery or New Jersey" in them - not in terms of sound or sales but in terms of 10 or 12 great songs that when you fist hear them you're blown away. All killer and no filler.

Does he think that since JBJ become CEO that it feels like JBJ plus 3 others? Has the feeling of a band gone? Is it right that one person seems to be responsible for the direction, sound and future of the band?

Other than that, I'd like to know what he thinks about Phil X, whether they have met, whether he called, whether he's given him any tips - that kind of stuff. Also - is it true that he offered his guitar collection for the tour but Phil X declined?

The other question is about his future projects. Richie has got a very good reputation amongst fans of guitar virtuosos. Has he ever considered joining someone like Joe Satriani/ Steve Vai on a G3 tour, especially given the fact that he had previously been involved on Steve Vai projects.

Third one is about the Deep Purple cover 'When a Blind Man Cries' that he did with Heaven and Earth. Even Deep Purple fans consider that one to be one of the best covers of a Deep Purple song by anyone yet he has never played it live. Any chance that could show up in the sets going further? [just reminding him really, maybe he pulls it off at some point]
