no direction for sure...and songs with no character imo that they wont be able to perform them very good live due to the studio busy vocals...

take me appeals to me though and i dont hear santana in it...more like sinatra meets shadow puppets...bob rock didnt impress me this time...

masterpiece has a guitar solo afterall i was wrong

Well, it's different for sure. I'm not quite sure how I feel about it but NOT what I expected at all. As man of y'all have already said, it's all over the place style wise and for a Bob Rock production I don't hear much on the loud guitar front. I will say I actually do like Ori's voice more than I thought I would. Going to have to give this a few listens but probably not Ipod worthy at this point.

Irony it is has even less guitars than What About Now.

Thinny, I mean that's fair but it also doesn't really sound like Richie either. I think his fan base is allowed to voice an opinion but everyone painted Richie in a light (not even since he left the band, since always) that he was the hard rocker that steers Jon right but he's had such a pop sensibility. I think everyone expected his first project post Bon Jovi to sound like all the reasons he left the band for. Lack of solos, spontaneity and a rockier sound. This doesn't really reflect that and that surprises me.

For what it is, a pop thing with few traces of guitars it's fine but this isn't going appeal as much to his personal fan base nor the bands so it's a huge mountain to climb when you take both fan bases out of the equation.

I agree with all of that, not disputing any of it at all...

I think calling any music "bad" is wrong...as it's all down to personal tastes. I know people that will love this. I know people that will hate it. Neither of them are wrong....

Me too.

There is electric guitar on Rise...

The lack of guitar throughout is surprising though...

I don't have a problem with the production at all...I'd take this sound of the sterile Shanks sound...

Wasn't Jon's fault the lack of guitars in the last albums??

C'mon. What my hero became. I started to love Bon Jovi because of you Richie.

I was not expecting here Bon Jovi songs on it (like aftermath) but...Bloody hell. This is indefensible.

We'll never know WHY there were less guitars, my point wasn't Richie wanted more or less guitars, it's that his first release post release isn't as guitar-centric as one would expect. As pop music I'm enjoying this. As a Richie release I'm on the fence.

Yes, I'd say that's me exactly.

This board is the epitome of somehow finding the silver lining in a pile of shit.
