Man, you really DO want to go round and round again, don't you? (I didn't bullet it, but I tried to keep the paragraphs tiny.) :p

It was old news to the mainstream before the BWC tour ended, RDK. But regarding Jon's changing "generic" responses:

In 2013, when people actually cared about what happened, Jon skirted those questions like a champ. His generic response was primarily "personal issues, he just didn't show up, rock band isn't a life sentence."

2014: it was the NFL deal that broke Jon's heart, the label who betrayed him, and they were starting a new chapter because "...Richie left. It's not that big a deal; being in a rock band isn't a life sentence".

2015: Not much about Richie, focus was possible new music

2016: Most people outside of the fan base had all but forgotten that Richie had left the band. The die-hards had long-since given up on learning more about what happened and had basically moved on. Then the promos started and Jon brought Calgary up in every single interview. The first alcohol reference I remember (after the 2013 one) was the Mossman article (Nov 2016).

https://drycounty.com/jovitalk/bon-j...ng-jbj-t69749/

I still don't trust that article, but it was the first of the drinking/drugging comments or innuendo in almost every interview after that until it just became a standard part of Jon's generic response, along with he just didnt show up, nobody's heard from him since Calgary, Jon was so devastated that he couldn't sing in the shower and his guitar was giving him the finger, being in a rockband...

As you say, that "generic response" remained basically unchanged until the rockhall promos started, but by then alcohol and Jon being more critical of Richie (in a perfectly noble way, of course) had already been a consistent part of it for well over a year.

There was an article bonjovi90 translated around that same time that is a decent example of the things I mentioned earlier, like Jon tugging on the fans' heartstrings to rile them up again, and how he brought Richie into the discussion, if the interviewer didn't, and then kept the focus on Richie's shortcomings to avoid straying into territory that might shine a light on Jon or the band as a possible part of the problem.

Here's a link to that whole discussion:

If you check it, you can see that I'm not the only one who thought Jon was talking more about Richie's business than he had before. In fact, DryCounty posted about how open Jon was.being about the Richie drama, and would you like to see how you responded?

Still think I was just on a witch hunt? That it was just my imagination or faulty Richie-centric interpretation that caused me to see Jon elaborating more and more in each interview? :p

(BTW, it occurs to me: Are we having this 'deja vu all over again' moment because you thought I was being critical of Jon again in my earlier post? If so, you need to go back and read that one, too. I wasn't bitching. I was just explaining my epiphany that led to the "Buckle up" post you didn't want to read.)

I like everytime some way you quote the Bible! it's true

btw if I was JBJ/RS I would feel waaay a “rock star” if I find people who overanalyze and talk about me like this lol

JBJ: "History speaks"

:) It's not Scripture, but I'll bank on the truth of it anyway. ;)

RE: Jon and Richie - I sometimes get this mental image of them, having kissed and made up, sharing a bottle of wine while they read some of these posts and laugh, because they're fine. We're the only ones who are still carrying on the war! :D

What you are forgetting is, Jon was basically out of the limelight until he started promoting THINFS. Sure he did some spot interview but after he was done promoting WAN, he did his usual time off endeavours...

Now comes THINFS... Its now time to sit on the couch and here come all the Richie questions...

I think Jon's been as honest as possible. I think he was just as clueless as fans were... I believe they never really had a true conversation about why... and I think as Jon was finding out little pieces of info, he shared it. People wanted answers and Jon did what he could to answer questions that he didn't have the answers to...

Jon and Richie were married for 30 years and they know more about each other than anyone... Jon never bashed Richie. He was blindsided, hurt, and took it like a divorce.

We live in a society where the truth is offensive so Jon speaking the truth is honesty, not offensive... You need to understand that!!!

Why am I not having trouble imagining that you would do that.

Funny, this is exactly what Heather did to Richie. He found out she was divorcing him in a f@kin' interview! Jon was nursing him to health for months, keeping him busy recording and touring, writing songs for him, allegedly inviting him over to his house for some time so he could recover mentally and THEN, Richie would just 'thank' Jon for all this after a few years and do the very same to him? Such a betrayal, which in his case almost cost him his own life, just because he 'suddenly' felt very unhappy? That would make R the biggest motherf***er in the world and I refuse to believe that is the truth. Period.

That's a little extreme... I think Jon and the band tried helping Richie during certain periods as good friends should do but I don't think Jon tried being his savior...

Richie said in one of those HOF interviews that the first thing Jon said to him when they saw each other was, “I love you,” and Richie said it back to Jon. It seems they are fine, whether they get back together or not.

So why is the SAME discussion being repeated after 5 years, 6 years, however long it’s been? This obsessive speculation being repeated over and over again is about as useful as a bull with udders.

Of course you chiming in that it's useless hasn't gotten any older.

We've been having discussions about Jon's voice, Cadillac Man, It's My Life clones for how long now?

Ha! :D

Not literally. More like the way Jon said that he and the label "kissed and made up". The bottle of wine... that may have been a little more literal. (But just so Richie could try Hampton Water, you understand. Not because either of them would really be interested in drinking wine or anything...)

But you knoooow... As Becky just reminded us, Richie did say, "He kissed me and I kissed him back. He said, "I love you." I said, "I love you, too. Let's get it on!" So one never knows...

*okay, showing myself out now*
