I don't WANT them to break up; I've just never been totally convinced that there's anything TO break up. As a couple
or as a band. I've never seen the "chemistry" they keep on about, instant or otherwise. Not on stage, not in photos, not in person.
I think the reason Richie comes across as sexist and hand-sy in the more recent interviews is because they're trying to sell this whole couple thing. Richie's one the worst liars in the world and when he's trying to project something that isn't genuine he tends to go overboard. In the beginning, any mention of Ori or their "chemistry" was always within the context of music - compliments on her guitar and songwriting skill (never about her personally),
musical chemistry, etc., and he didn't act out as much. But since the EPs and album, interviewers are asking more often about their personal relationship (pre-planned, I'm sure), and Richie has started talking about them as a "couple". Seems to me that he's trying too hard to project something that isn't there. Maybe they thought they'd stand out more from other duos if there's this perception that they're madly in love or something, idk.
As for the future of RSO vs them as a couple, I don't think the success or failure of one is connected to the other. If they are truly passionate about this album (another thing I just haven't seen, especially from Richie) they can tour whether they're a couple or not. And if there's a true relationship, whether the project fails or not; that would go on. Since I don't think there's much to either side of that coin anyway, I'm predicting a quiet slide into obscurity for the album, RSO,
and Richie and Ori as a couple. They could, however, use a breakup as a "reason" for not touring, to back out somewhat gracefully and save face.
I might be way off-base; but that's my two cents, fwiw.
