I quite like them. I don't believe the whole album will be like this though. Let's wait and see.

Manbou 09-06-2016 03:09 PM

I also don't understand how they can be presented as credible (hard) rock acts while releasing such stuff... Plus, I didn't really expect this to turn out like it did...
But let's wait and see. I eagerly hope to be pleasantly surprised by the rest of the songs.

Walleris 09-06-2016 03:18 PM

What are you talking about guys???

BEST SINCE THESE DAYS!!

I love that Richie is finally no longer held back by the tyrant Jon and is actually allowed to play some real guitars and jam everywhere!!!:D:rolleyes:

steel_horse75 09-06-2016 03:35 PM

well its hard to judge based on 5 seconds but all ill say is - he left Jovi for this? (based on what ive heard). Good luck to him but ill not be buying.

Santa Fe 09-06-2016 03:45 PM

Hey could anyone tell me what Orianthi sings in Magic from second 30 to second 39 ? That pronunciation drives me crazy.

WILDJOVIMAN 09-06-2016 03:46 PM

i´m upset.. really upset.. Taylor Swift ???

Any idea of what is richie saying form second 8 to second 16 ?

life_of_agony 09-06-2016 03:49 PM

I for one can't hear enough to make any sort of judgement one way or another. But I can say that I am massively excited for this album, more so than the Jovi record. Love Sambora. Loved Orianthi before she hooked up with Sambora (she is from my hometown). Seeing them both live in less than three weeks with a meet and greet and cannot wait to potentially hear some stuff from the new record. I genuinely thing this album is gonna be frigging killer.

I don't understand why some are reluctant to judge. Obviously, 10 seconds or whatever is not enough to make a conclusion on the whole song, that should go without saying. However, surely it is possible to make a judgement on those 10 seconds alone?

It was horrible music, take the Bon Jovi vs. Richie thing away and it was just not up to standard, especially if they are aiming to be a rock act.

Now, there are obvious caveats with judging 10 seconds. The song may change opinions (I know on forums opinions seem to have to be cast in stone, but), and to be fair neither Richie nor Orianthi have said they are trying to be a rock act.

Lastly, the more I see these two the more I think he is dragging her down and not the other way round.

Thinny 09-06-2016 06:46 PM

Hi find it hilarious that people can determine that it's terrible production from an uploaded clip a few seconds long, with talking all over it. Clearly some people are just have their knives out already...

Both Richie and Ori have stated several times that there were country influences on the record which you can hear. It probably makes sense commercially. I don't recall them ever saying that they were making a rock record full of big riffs and guitar solos...

Honestly, I don't really care if it's got a bit of country in it, or whatever else, as long as the songs are strong. You can't tell that from these two clips really...

I just hope that we get to hear a fair amount of Richie's voice and it's not mainly Ori...that would be my main concern I think

rolo_tomachi 09-06-2016 07:20 PM

These two fragments ... seem the same song. Are you all sure that they are different songs?

No-one is sure about anything at the moment...just lots of speculation over a 10 second clip and people are already armed with pitchforks. Makes me laugh.
The best comment is about the production being terrible. God knows at what stage in production that clip was at and how many filters have been washed over it for radio.

Patience is a virtue. Let's wait for something more concrete....it's coming soon.

bonjovi90 09-06-2016 07:51 PM

Surely production and an entire song shouldn't be judged on a 10sec clip. But I can judge these 10 seconds and what I hear is as poppy and interchangeable as most on WAN. Doesn't mean that the album has to be bad but the chorus sounds like somewhere inbetween Shania Twain and Taylor Swift.

Captain_jovi 09-06-2016 08:40 PM

You can't judge a song's credentials in ten seconds, nor production. You can absolutely judge a song's genre though. This falls flat into new-country territory which begs the question.....if the whole album is like that then they're making a country album. If it doesn't then it'll be as fragmented as Bounce and pandering to too many scenes.

I'm still looking forward to the album but I always thought it would turn out that way. Through the different stages and changes in producers and different people coming in and out of the studio it never really seemed to have a clear direction album wise, just making the best songs they could one at a time which may turn some people off but pesonally it's appealing to me....

Well so much for leaving BJ to rock out again.

Bring on that album, anyway. It's been too long!

QUceK1WV8 09-06-2016 09:14 PM

I hope those clips are not what it will be about. Obviously just little snippets, and there is hope.

But seriously. Saying that that stuff is anything "on steroids" says a lot about - anything, really :p

Rdkopper 09-06-2016 11:07 PM

Am I the only one digging it? I don't mind some catchy country music... I know there is nothing left in Richie within the rock world so I'll give this a shot... As long as she is just minimal vocally... That's my only request

Hearing these clips hyped me up a bit. The songs sound polished, radio friendly but catchy as hell. This isn't the loosely produced, live off the floor vibe I was expecting.

Becky 09-08-2016 01:51 AM

It sounded like Lady Antebellum to me. It was only ten seconds but I actually liked it. You know for ten seconds.

I like the clips too...even though it's too early to tell what the whole song sounds like ;) Can't wait for the album!

ticos_stick 09-08-2016 03:05 PM

Here's hoping they picked the softest, safest song to play on morning tv. I very much doubt it'll be representative of the album as a whole.

Here's the video, if anyone's interested...

Quote:

Orianthi: We have actually done a cover of Sonny and Cher’s I Got You Babe. We did a heavy version of that. The album has a lot of duets, songs that Richie sings, songs that I sing. It’s a little Fleetwood Mac in parts, there’s so many different sounds. Some songs lend themselves to country but it’s not completely a country record. I’m a big country fan, I grew up with my mum playing country music around the house, I love the storytelling. As well as a lot of blues from my dad, a lot of Greek music, I’ve got diverse tastes. But the album has stuff for pop radio, for rock. It’s very diverse.

[...]

It’s been a long time in the making. When is the album going to come out?

Orianthi: We’re hoping to get some stuff on Spotify before the Australian shows. We’ve been working for about two years on this album. We’ve taken time to make this record, it was important to make it the best it can be. You can rush a record through in a month but it’ll be quite generic. We wanted to take time to make it perfect and artistic and mould a sound.

Richie: Who knows what an album is these days? We have 22 songs recorded and finished. How do you break that up? We had a great time making this record. Bob Rock produced it. There could be two albums. We’re not sure how it’s all going to come out yet.

[...]

Richie: With Ori and I it’s about making music and making people happy. That’s what I’ve always wanted to do. [...] I think people like to see people having fun on stage.

soundfire624 09-10-2016 11:40 AM

hope i am wrong but listening to the snipet..if that reaaly come up on the sirface..RS fans will be furious as hell ahahaha since they expecting "GO RICHIE..BJ is no fun and rocking anymore nowadays" dangg if this is true, guess i dont mind if RS never come back at all...:D

Is it just me or do neither of them sound like they actually really know what they were doing or what they wanted from this record?

Chronology
They worked with L.Ebbin
They said that they'll relase cd with duets RS & Orianthi
They worked with M.Breaden
They said that they'll relase CD with covers (didn't say how many)
They worked with B.Rock
They worked with Roman Band and annouced tour with them
They still working with B.Rock even after they said 3 or more times that CD is done..
Now they don't know how they will relase stuff ecc.

Did I miss something??

What's next??
Richie will break up with Ori and loss all stuff which they wrote togheter? or April finally will come to us and they will relase the CD??

Jon said in one of old interview that when you open Richie door you will never know what or who will see there.

And I think it's the same situation with this CD ;)

New stuff is starting to seep out. Evidently new material will surface ahead of their Aussie tour...

I don't think it's just you. In fact, I believe Richie and Ori have said as much. Isn't that what "exploring different styles and genres" and phrases like that means? That they've been trying different things to just put everything out there without restricting themselves; then they could choose what they wanted to use on the album? IIRC, they have been pretty up front about that process from the beginning.

It's not a bad way to approach things. It sounds similar to the way Jon has often said he and Richie worked, back in the day, when they used to come into the studio with 30 or 40 songs, played around with them, and then decided what they wanted on the record.

JMHO, but it seems like a good way to let creativity flow and create something that's fresh and new, or to come up with something that says what you want to say in the way you want to say it, as opposed to a cookie cutter approach that just inserts Tab A into Slot B, or rehashes something that may have worked before because you feel like you're under pressure to just release something. To me, the second method is more like science; and while science has its place, I prefer music to be art.

I'm all for artistry - but when they say the album has country, pop, rock, something for radio - it kind of sounds like a mess with no direction. Guess we'll see when it's finally released.

I'll be happy whatever it is...I don't need direction. Let them experiment as much as they want. Just get it out there for us to enjoy :)

Good summary... So let's see how it all breaks down:

They worked with L.Ebbin... Yes they did. So...?

They said that they'll relase cd with duets RS & Orianthi ...
And they're still saying that there will be some duets, some songs from Ori, and some from Richie, as well. So...?

They worked with M.Breaden... Yes. So...?

They said that they'll relase CD with covers (didn't say how many)...
As far as I know, they still plan to release the cover of I Got You Babe. So...?

They worked with B.Rock... Yes. (This is getting boring. Is there a point?)

They worked with Roman Band and annouced tour with them... Yes...And?

They still working with B.Rock even after they said 3 or more times that CD is done...
When have they said the album was done? Are you quite sure that you didn't confuse that with Jon saying, in July of last year - and in every Runaway event since then - that the band's album was done and they were just sitting on it??

Now they don't know how they will relase stuff ecc...
And so...?

Did I miss something??... Perhaps the part where Richie said that they were just having a good time making music and the album would take as long as it takes? Oh... and that they weren't going to rush it. Did I miss anything???

What's next?? ...
Only the shadow knows... BWAHAHA

Jon said in one of old interview that when you open Richie door you will never know what or who will see there...

Yes, he did. And although he was referring to something entirely different, the fact remains that not always knowing what you might find behind those closed doors doesn't mean that it didn't often result in some pretty good music over the years. Would you agree?

And I think it's the same situation with this CD...
I have no reason to believe otherwise. That's why I'm still looking forward to it! ;)

I don't know about that... From that description, it sounds a little like HAND or Lost Highway to me. I could live with that! :D

But I agree we won't really know what the album sounds like until it's released. Who knows? It could be a beautiful mess!
