Once and for all.... Please don't ask for definitions again!
Tis is how certifications work in the USA:
PLATINUM: 1,000,000 (one Million records sold) GOLD: 500,000 (Five Hundred Thousand records sold) Band is certified Platinum after RIAA acnowledges that one million albums have been PRINTED and SHIPPED. There is a company called SoundScan that counts actual units sold over the counter and over the internet. For example, These days shipped over a million copies but only 680,000 were sold. Europe, Japan and Australia have lower numbers (100,000 for platinum) because of less population than the USA. Get it, got it, good!!! |
Quote:
Albums: Double platinum 600.000 platinum 300.000 gold 150.000 The Numbers were reduced back in 1999. Before 1999 the Numbers were the same as for singles that are still: Double platinum: 1 Mill. Platinum 500.000 Gold 250.000 It's my life got double platinum here for example. |
