Question about Richie

Ok, I just have a quick question about Richie...a local tv station is doing a promotion for Bon Jovi tickets. Today's question was "Who did Richie Sambora replace in Bon Jovi?" I said Dave Sabo and my mom called it in. She was the qualifying person, but when she gave her answer, the station said she was wrong! Am I mistaken?

Well, he didn't really replace anyone but he was the last one to join BJ. I think Dave Sabo was originally planned as the guitar player (Jon didn't know Richie at that time) but when Jon got to know Richie and his guitar play he hired Richie and Bon Jovi were born. But Richie plays on all BJ-albums, there wasn't any change in the band history.

it was a difficult question, because as you said Christine, Richie was always in the band since the beginning ... not fair !!!

Maybe they meant "who did Hugh replace in BJ?" It makes sense as those phone in questions are never usually that difficult anyway just for money-making reasons!

ah yes, maybe ... it happens to me once, i was playing on a local radio to win some tickets for a 'festival', and they wanted to know the age of a french artist, i looked on the internet quickly and found it, then i said he's 31 .. and they answered i was wrong, the answer is 30 ??? i told them the date i have found, and they said : "ah it was his birthday yesterday ! we didn't knew that", They sent me the tickets but i have to say what they wanted to hear when we were on the air, even if it was wrong !

Wasn't Sanke in the band when BON JOVI opened for ZZ TOP ...their first show as a band????
I think he was...95% sure!!!

I don't think so. I once read somewhere Richie's worse memory as an musician was during the opening act for ZZ Top. Bon Jovi used to be the opener. When Richie turned of his amp and played a chord to check whether the amp works, the amplefier blew up. It made all kinds of weird noises and the audience were shouting "ZZ Top, ZZ Top". I think I read it somewhere on richiesambora.com

This means Richie was in the band when they opened for ZZ Top.
