Midnight in Chelsea

It popped up on my Ipod while I was going for a walk. I found it to be refreshing and think it still sounds great and has great lyrics. I wonder what it would sound like without the Sha-la-la's though. Sometimes when I hear the song, I find them annoying, but most of the time I don't.

One of my favorite Jon songs. I always do a cool walk when listening to it... Unless I'm sitting down.

I hate it. Probably because it mentions a plastic chavtastic football club in it!
Seriously Im not a fan of JBJs solo stuff (or Richies really) apart from a few songs.

At the time it was released i hated it ..... But now i find it sorta cool . Agree its a good walking song ! Never been a fan of "shah la laasss " .

I never hated it because the verses are beyond brilliant but the timing was so wrong for a song like that...

In the heart of Soundgarden, Nine Inch Nails, Stone Temple Pilots, Metallica, Etc.... Jon's song has sha la la's in it. "When Chelsea girls sing shalalala" As a Bon Jovi fan, I wanted to bury my head in the dirt and come out when it was all over.

The song however has amazing lyrics throughout but no non-fan would ever know that....

I've seen a lone sloane ranger drive
Seems her chauffeur took a dive
And sold her secrets to the Sun

And later in a magazine
I finally figured what it means
To be a saint, not a queen

Two lustful lovers catch a spark
Chase their shadows in the dark
Someone's getting off tonight

A big red bus that's packed so tight disappears in a trail of light
Somewhere someone's dreaming baby it's alright....

It's morning when I go to sleep
In the distant dawn a church bell rings
Another day is coming on

A baby's born, an old man dies
Somewhere young lovers kiss good bye
I leave my soul and just move on
And wish that I was there to sing this song

I actually like DA for the lyrics too, I think it shows Jons talents as an individual songwriter, if you can mentally put aside the Bon Jovi aspect. I think DA is a very good album. Try dusting it off and taking it in, a lot better than some of the "going through the motions" stuff we have had on the last few BON JOVI albums.

Also am I correct in thinking that August 7 4:15 was written about Paul Korzelia's daughter being tragically killed in an accident ?:(

Destination is my all time favorite album. I think it's Jon's best moment as an artist because it sounds so different than the work with Bon Jovi, the lyrics are deep and not so obvious at first listening. I tend to enjoy this kind of music which is really different than the 2000-2013 Bon Jovi that you understand at first listening that the guy just wants to live his life.

Speaking of misheard lyrics, I always thought this lyric:

A big red bus that's packed so tight disappears in a trail of light
Somewhere someone's dreaming baby it's alright....

was

A big red bust is packed so tight disappears in a trailer light
Somewhere someone's dreaming baby it's alright....

It follows the "someone's getting off tonight"... I guess I have a dirty mind.

Destination was a head of it's time. When I bought it, I wore it out, but that fact that it was the furthest thing from These Days was a little disappointing. He sang different, the songs/lyrics were a different style, the production was extremely different... It took balls to release that album. I still really liked it and I still do. This is an album he could still sing (unlike Blaze). I would love for him to revisit that creative spark for another solo album.

Funny, english can be a tricky language sometimes even for native speakers, yet the greatest one for music.
