Unless he is doing a cover, these shows are becoming predictable.

At least they have not played Who Says... ;)

The guitar player of my band, who is a huge Richie fan (and adored the 2012 show in Berlin!), just wrote that he couldn't wait for it to end after the first 20 minutes.
The points he mentioned: - Richie screwed lyrics all over the place - Rosie must've been a total mess - the middle part of the set was a big lull (something we know from recent Jovi years) |

I had hoped that the shows would improve with practice. |

And Richie definitely had a few before the show, if not completely drunk, he was basically babbling when talking to the audience or had a drunk "ring" to his voice for most of the time, and made comments and jokes that are creepy even for Richie :-( He also made a remark about him becoming too skinny so that his pants always fall down (he had to pull them up a couple of times, one time even joking if someone would like to come up and do it for him) - and that while becoming all fat and bloated again. Just sad :-( Other than that, the playing seemed way better than in the clips I've seen from the previous shows, didn't notice any big mistakes, much improvisation, good tracking of licks and solos between Orianthi and him. His voice was also pretty good for the most part. Sound was great, as was the band. The drummer especially ;-) Storybook Love sounded great live! :-) What really pissed me off is him constantly having a go at Jon during these shows (yesterday at least twice as far as I remember). I was really mad at him after Learning How To Fly, because after the line in the first verse "Guess I got fooled by a famous face" he said "Guess by who" and grinned. F*ck off, Richie, you just don't treat people that enabled you to do what you do today like that, even if you had a fight or are drunk. Just not classy in any way... So mixed emotions for me I guess ;-) |
